If all we have to give up is lottery protected picks and Luke Babbitt or Elliot Williams I'd make the deal. DeMarcus is an idiot, but I think Nate could handle the situation as well as any coach in the league. If Cousins doesn't improve we dump him in a year or two, if he does improve we get a steal of a deal. Actually kind of reminds me of the situation with JR Rider, we picked him up for nothing and he got us to a WCF and was later the main piece in a trade that netted us Steve Smith. This actually would be a good trader Bob move!
I wouldn't make a trade unless Nate could sit down with Cousins and talk with him for an hour or two, and give his OK. If they think they couldn't afford to resign Wallace, then i would trade him for Cousins; didn't Sacramento just sign Chuck Hayes to a big contract; they must be somewhat in the win now mode.
From Yahoo: Spending time with Kurt/Marcus/Jamal won't change that kind of attitude. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_y...Sq8vLYF?slug=ys-demarcus_cousins_kings_010112
Give up Babbitt, AJ, Rights to freeland or claver their choice and our 2012 first maybe our second too. Then sign Kmart afterwords back to the jailblazers here we come! In all seriousness if Mcmillian and our vets think they can keep him in line we gotta make an offer.
I think this was the right move by Sacramento. They have nothing to lose right now by sitting Cousins. If he were not already on their team, their fans would be wanting to take a chance on the guy. It is also hard to judge the mental makeup of a guy that we have little access to.
If this is how Cousins acts when his team and agent are 'protecting' him, I hate to see what happens when he starts having some success. Also, you know the guy is a disaster when his own team is killing his trade value.
Hmm, Sac has the whole season to figure this out. There's no need to panic and trade him for nothing.
After reading that article, where Cousins is called childish, immature, spoiled, etc, by everyone from the ball boys up to the owners, I'm convinced Sacramento doesn't want to actually trade him. He's been getting away with this shit for far too long and it not only affects his performance, it impacts the team. They are finally calling him out and holding him accountable for his actions. Coddling him and covering up for him didn't work. It just made him even worse. They are now resorting to more of a tough love approach hoping it will help him get his head on straight. It may work, it may not, but the Kings aren't headed anywhere but the lottery anytime soon. Might as well sit his ass down until he learns a little respect and humility. BNM
LOL, Sacramento in a win now mode. Good one! Yeah, they want to make one more serious title run while Travis Outlaw is still in his prime. BNM
You know what's sad? DeMarcus Cousins is so young and stupid, he probably has no idea who Charles Oakley is. BNM
Don't like cousins. Hes basically sheeds head case with Zachs selfishness. Talk about chemistry killer.
He's only 21 and obviously has a lot to learn. An environment change is what he needs. Being traded in only his second year would be a nice slice of humble pie IMO.
It could be just a environment change, but I've seen this before with other players. Sometimes it takes years for them to finally grow up. Can you imagine the "Field Day" Cansuckoff and Quick will have on him? His fragile mind would probably throw a major tantrum. He's definitely a talent, but I would hate to bring someone in that could completely destroy our chemistry. IMO
If they're going to trade him it should be when his stock is higher. I don't think it does them any good to just send him away right now. Plus he's probably going to get better, he's a decent rebounder already.
Not saying SacTown or Portland wouldn't be interested... I am just concerned with his attitude. If he comes to Portland and his attitude changes, then it would be a great addition. But it seems he would whine about shit. What if Oden finally comes back and he is put on a reserve role? It could be a very concerning situation in Blazerville.
