Nbadraft.net currently has him at 3rd. I think that is bog wash. Just because he was dominate defensively in the tourny and showed people o many things in COLLEGE BASKETBALL doesnt mean that he will be a top 4 pick on the next level. I dont think he has the offensive talent or post moves to be a good offensive player in the NBA. He doesnt have a jump shot either. He averaged 14.2 ppg last year, which is modest for a guy that leads his team, and for a guy who is supposed to be the 3rd pick next year. He gets easy buckets against the people he played against in the regular season too. He wont be able to score the same way in the NBA.I dont think he will be a good offensive player in the NBA, but I think he will end up being picked 10-14 just because of what he can do at a defensive standpoint. I think he made a bad decision not coming out when he won the NCAA Championship. That probably would have been the peak of his draft status. Next year, younger, more talented guys will go before him...Where do you think he will get picked? What's the deal with him?
I think top 3 is fair for him. He's a real difference maker. I love how he plays with so much emotion. He's a great shotblocker, he's good around the basket, and he can handle for a big. He'd be a steal outside the top 3 or 4.And 14 ppg isn't such a bad thing. That's around what Rudy Gay and LaMarcus Aldridge averaged in college, and people are saying that they can dominate offensively. I agree he doesn't have too much offense, but he's also only a sophomore. 14 ppg isn't awful.
Yeah, but 14 ppg doenst show how little offensive talent he has too. He wont be able to just put it over those guys in the NBA with a little dribble and up. He has very poor post moves, and a bad jumpshot. I doubt he would be able to score points in the next level.
I wouldn't say he has poor post moves. They're decent. He will have to work on his offense a bit, but he will still be a dominating force in the middle, defensively atleast.
I simply don't like him..I don't see whats so awsome about him..Anyone care to tell me what the hell makes him so "good" as scouts have said..
I have to disagree Dogmatist. I dont think Joakim has any decent post moves that could transfer into the NBA. Usually he gets his points off tips, rebounds and just forcing the ball in there over his oppenent. Not to mention, he cant shoot if it is outside the key...

He'll be picked in the top 5 because some GM will overrate him because of what he did or will do in the tourney. I think he'll become a nice player. A good defensive big man who will be able to score a little, but not as good as a top 5 pick should be.
