We all know what micro-surgery does to a player, Tim Duffy said he saw him last week and he was 'limping' around. Do you think knee problems will kill Amare's career?
It won't kill it but it will probably shorten his career and he won't be the athletic beat he was. His passing and shooting have improved a lot and you could still see some dunks and blocks. Not anymore dunks like that one over Foyle though.
It takes a few years to fully recover from microfracture knee surgery, and seeing how young Amare is he definitely has enough time to fully recover as long as he doesn't put too much pressure on himself in terms of being the athletic beast he used to be.If he is fortunate enough not to have recurring knee problems, he will have a long career ahead of him, but he will probably transform his game into a jump shooter and although he will continue to finish around the basket, we won't see as many powerful dunks as we used to.Amare has added a three-point shot, an improved jumper, and the ability to handle the ball with his left hand and finish off a drive to the left as well. He is continually adding to his offensive repetoire, and he will need to continue to do so in order to have a longer career now that he had the surgery.
I dont know. We'll see how his re-habbing goes, and how he plays this season. Then we will be able to tell..
I think Amare will never be 100% again but definitely if he develops an outside shot he could work like Tim Thomas did.

Amare is way too talented of a player to become Tim Thomas. Also he isnt a bone head who doesnt work. He is working his best to re-hab, and I think he will become maybe even better. Because now he is adding a jumper to his game. He will gain some of his athleticism back over time too..
Basically what everyone is saying is that he could still play well if healthy, but he won't be the athletic phenom we saw 2 and 3 years ago...He probably won't ever become the MVP candidate he would have been if he never injured his knee...but he'll be someone that needs to be respected.Basically, I just don't see him as being the guy that puts PHX over the top and into the Finals.
Worst case scenario he becomes a 3 point chucker who rarely goes inside, like alot of other PFs in the leauge.
He cant hit 3 pointers. He now has a mid-range jumper but not a 3 point shot. I think he will have a similar career to someone like Chris Webber. And there's nothing wrong with that...
Yeah I don't see him being much better than Chris Webber unless he miraculously becomes 100% again. He will let his knee get to his head and he will stop attacking relentlessly like he used to.
No, I don't think Amare will ever be the same player. He won't get all of that explosiveness and power back, but I will assure you he will become more of a finesse player. His jumper has really improved and his fundamentals are more sound.I think Amare is going to be an All-Star more than once, easily. But I don't think he will ever be the absolute powerhouse he once was.
He relied a lot on his athleticism and power. He won't be able to do that anymore. He'll have to continue to develop outside shooting and post moves if he ever wants to make the same impact as he did.

I never thought Amare had a good enough post game to rely on if he was shut down athletically and just being strong and dunking inside. He needs to develop some moves that he can make his calling card if he can't do the things he used to do.
He might be more like a Channing Frye. A mobile big man, but will never be a dominating force down low again. I guarantee he will be an All Star, but if they trade Shawn Marion, PHX will make a bad mistake. Nash will help him become a 20 point per game scorer again though.
Channing Frye He will be alot more succesful then Channing dude. Look at Grant Hill. In the time he played after his injuries, he still played well. And Amare's isnt as serious as Grant's. Give him pre-season before you knock him guys. He's still re-habbing, and in an article he said that his leg felt fine..

Also, I don't think Grant had the same type of injury/surgery Amare had, Grant's problem was his ankles, Amare's is his knee. This is really a easy topic to answer imo, no. Whenever you have surgery like Amare had or any type. You will never be at the same level before the injury or surgery. That's just a fact, there are some injuries you can bounce back from but the major ones, there will be repercussions. And Amare had a major one, guy won't be the same player he was before it.
