I wonder how old this 'interest' is. I think with the coaching change basically means that DeMarcus is no longer available.
I wouldn't be too sure about that. Utah still traded Deron Williams after Sloan quit last season. And DeMarcus Cosuins is no D-Will. So, they fired Westfal. That doesn't change the fact that Cousins is still an idiot with a huge sense of entitlement. If anything, getting his coach fired will probably make him even harder for his next coach to deal with. Utah has WAY too many bigs. What the hell do they want Cousins for? They forgot they have Favors, Jefferson, Millsap and Kanter? Adding Cousins would make 5 fairly young and talented bigs that will all be hungry for big minutes. That's a formula for discontent.
Nice to hear somebody down at once center court is interested. I've contended that any team can tolerate one knucklehead ... This would pretty much fill our quota for the next decade no matter how it works, but he's got enough talent that he'd be worth the risk (as long as the price isn't ridiculous).
I really don't want to give up batum for that headcase seeing as we have no one behind Wallace who could well leave next year.
I'm torn on Cousins. He's a bonehead of epic proportions, but a very talented one. The only guys that would make sense to trade for him is either Batum, or Wallace. Which one would you give up?
I would try to trade Wallace for him, of the two. I think Wallace is the better overall player, but he is also the older player who's body is older than he is from all "crashing" he does. I'm not sure, even if Sacramento were going to trade him, that they would want Wallace over Batum because of age. Batum could grow with the rest of the Kings roster. I'm not really sure we have the pieces to get them interested anyway. Two many failed draft picks the last few years
I'm sure we have pieces that they would want (Batum/Felton/exp contracts/maybe Ewill but they are stacked at that position/draft picks even though they are not good draft picks) but they would have to want to trade Cousins for any of those pieces to look real enticing. If they think that they can get Cousins into line there is no way they trade a talent like that except for another great young talent or a projected top 5 draft pick. I'd rather get rid of Wallace then Batum if we had to choose but i'd only trade one of them if it was close to the deadline and it was pretty obvious we weren't going to be anything but a one and done team.
They actually might want Wallace because he's a veteran. That team is pretty much devoid of anything I would call veteran presence or leadership.
