<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Philadelphia Daily News - John Salmons has made his decision, and it?s Toronto. Salmons, a 4-year veteran with the 76ers, has agreed to a sign-and-trade that will send him to the Raptors, according to a report published by Phil Jasner of the Philadelphia Daily News. He chose Toronto over an opportunity to join the Phoenix Suns . Salmons, 26, has agreed to the terms of a 5-year contract worth $23 million. The Sixers will receive a second-round draft choice and a $2 million trade exception. ?John had two great choices and chose Toronto based on a variety of factors,? Salmons? agent Joel Bell told the Daily News this afternoon. ?He wanted to think through all the possibilities before he reached a decision.?</div>I know this was already posted. But I thought there deserved to be a thread in the Raptors section too.I think it's a great signing. Salmons is only 26 and he can come in and score off the bench. He is a good driver and a good all around scorer. :beerchug:

Yeah good pickup. Of course he won't carry us to the playoffs or anything, but everyone knows a good team must have a good deep bench. Salmons brings nothing but that. Now for all you sixers fans, tell me about Salmons' defense

Salmons is a decent defender at best, and was probably our second best man-to-man defender last season behind Iguodala, but that isn't really saying much. The only reason he was our second best defender was because he was our second most athletic wingman, and could atleast stay in front of some of the more athletic swingmen in the league. Other than that, he's not special defensively, but he's not absolutely terrible either.Offensively, it just depends on what he feels like doing. At times last year he would be a ballhog (a lot of times, actually)... thinking he's the superstar player and deciding the ball should be in his hands in the final 30 seconds of the game instead of Iverson's or CWebbs. I mean, that does show confidence, but it also shows a lack of judgement. If he can play consistently in Toronto, and start hitting his perimeter shots, he is going to be a great pick-up for you guys. He's versatile, he can play three positions, and he can finish around the basket. He was our only perimeter player who wouldn't stand around and watch Iverson do his thing... he would actually do something with the ball once he got it.The only problem with him is that you don't know which John Salmons you're getting each night... the one that relentlessly attacks the rim, plays solid defense, and commits minimal turnovers, or the John Salmons who settles for jumpers, lets his man blow by him, turns the ball over and makes boneheaded plays.

Some key flaws is that hes inconsistant and he messes up during clutch situations.

Hopefully he wont do that much in Toronto. Thanks for the report bigmo :happy0144:

Salmons is dumb. But, good luck trying to get him to buy into a team system.
