I'm super impressed with the bulls. 5-2 on the road so far and they've still got a +9.7 points differential.
Oh, Eric. It's been tough, but I'm not sure you can say we have had the toughest when we have only played 3 road games, and lost two of them. Houston has had a brutal schedule so far.
Our schedule has also had games spaced days apart, so even though the strength of teams we have played are high, we've had much more rest then most teams in the league. Add to that as you've said we've played 5 home games and 3 road games; with two more home games coming up. We will learn very quickly how serious of a contender our teams is, 6 game road trip followed by a back to back to back. One big advantage for us this year is our stength of schedule for the entire season is very low. We play the cellar dweller teams many times and the strong teams less. LA and Dallas and OKC have much tougher season schedules due to the unbalanced nature of a 66 game season.
Hollinger's stats have the SOS based on the opposing team's win% - the Blazers are 3rd behind the the Rockets, Pistons in SOS. Pretty tough schedule, opponents wise. But the home-heavy schedule was favorable.
I wish the league had been a bit less greedy about packing in so many make-up games and gone with a simplified schedule of playing every team twice, home and away. Totally balanced within and across conferences, and 58 games would have been a nice compromise between what we've got (and the sloppy play that results) and the 50 game season from the last lockout.
