Unless you know of some viable candidate that has not come forward yet. With no Dems at all opposing, and no Reps who can be seriously considered as a sane option, looks like it will be a landslide victory.
that's the talking point, but exactly what's wrong with a guy like Mitt Romney, who is the likely candidate?
How you feel about that? Doesn't seem Obama has really proved anything. I was really hoping Hilary would take another crack at it. I hate to say it, but I think she would make a good president. Hell she was running the country for 8 years when Bill was.
Obama certainly did prove something. He proved to be true what many of us expected... he has spent like crazy and ran up our debt and deficits, and has played the class warfare game. He's been a complete failure.
He hasn't been a complete failure. Not by any stretch. He's just been one of the least competent men to hold the job, and tick tick, the more time he gets, the longer it will take for the economy to improve. Like, 1.x% GDP growth isn't complete failure, but 2.5 or better is a reasonable and achievable result.
Huntsman is the only viable moderate in the republican race. Romney is a hedgefund banker and plays off his "down to earth" and "i love america" BS.
As a proud conservative, I am pissed that we don't really have THAT guy....or girl, to take down Obama. I really can't stand the thought of his incompetence for another 4 years. Hopefully Romney lands a stud VP candidate so the idiots who vote based on VP candidates will give him a serious look
the thing is, if Obama was doing well, more democrats would probably be up in the spot giving him props, but he sucks, they're over it and are embarassed about how right we were about him not being ready.
I think Obama's doing a good job. I just don't have the desire to bash out political arguments on a message board.
Where else do you have the desire to bash out political arguments? The argument about never bringing up politics or religion tends to be a reality when we are talking about people away from the internet. Fact is, most people don't know shit about either religion or politics, but they no doubt have opinions that they keep to themselves for fear of exposure. They just don't want to talk about it because its uncomfortable to talk about politics when they are on the precipice of being exposed. So where do you talk about it, if not for here?
Ideally? Never. Never ever ever. Politics are a one-person relationship between you the voter and reality. Because they are also based on philosophical beliefs, arguing about them won't change your beliefs, only make you cling to them more strongly. I believe religion is the same way. Your relationship with God/whoever. Arguing about it just leads to hurt feelings/bombings. Fuck that noise. I have trouble talking politics with my wife, even though we believe the same things *in general*. There's just way too man nuances to express, too many bits of anecdotal experience formed over decades to get out before the person you're talking with has the context to even know where you're coming from... and that's before the conversation can begin! If you're sitting across the internet table from some yahoo who wants to point talking points all day, you'll never get anywhere. Fuck talking politics and religion. Shit's private, yo.
