So... how you like him now? On the one hand, he's supposed to be a scorer, and it's hard to score when you're shooting around 30%. On the other, he's being asked to be the PG of the second unit, and that's not really what he's used to. On the other hand, why the hell do we have HIM then, if we needed a PG? On the other other hand, he has had some monster fourth quarter scoring tears. Back to the first hand again: even while that was happening, the other players were just standing around thinking "why am I even here?" I think his signing was a mistake. If we hadn't signed him, we'd have plenty of minutes for Batum, we'd be seeing what Nolan Smith can do (for good or ill) and we'd have a spot for another big now that Camby's gone down. But with all the feel-good "he's a NW boy! He's a pal of Brandon's! He took less money to come home!" crap, we're stuck with him.
I still like the signing, but I do get your point. I think there is a point when Crawford needs to understand how he can help this team. RIght now, he has become a liability on most games because he tries to do too much. If he would facilitate more in the first 2 quarters, then try scoring more in the second half; it would really help this team.
I have a feeling after this road trip the words "tear it down" and "rebuild" will be floating around.
I was kind of meh about the signing, but was okay with it. Now, unless he turns it around, i really hope they get whatever they can for him by the trade deadline because he is terrible.
Last year he had a 14.3 PER. So far this year he's 15.1. So, the fans who are unhappy now had apparently skewed expectations.
I like the signing. What I'm more worried about is his facilitating. I expected his offense to be streaky like it always has. I just don't like his decision making when he has the ball and there is a wide open shooter in his sight. Basically, he will take the forced shot, instead of giving it to a teammate for a much easier one.
I don't like him playing PG, the guy will look for his shot the first 3 times then maybe pass it the next. He is a real feast or famine type player too. Were gonna have games were he gets hot and brings us back from really far down then there are games were he will shoot us out of them.
He's probably the most hot/cold player so far this year. The PG experiment has got to end. He's not a facilitator, trying to make him one is playing to his weaknesses. Nolan Smith should probably get some burn. Or, perhaps they can waive Armon and sign an old vet PG that will give you a steady dose of mediocre. Emphasis on the steady.
I'm fine. we knew he was streaky, got to take the bad with the good...he's the kind of guy we need in the playoffs in the 4th to get to the next round.
Terrible for TEAM play, this guy. Whilst he is talented and can score in bunches, he is a very selfish baller. Not good for the chemistry of the team, nor for any potential development of the younger players. Only person I want off of the team more is McMillan.
He averages 4.4 assists/36 for his career, and is at 4.5 a/36 this year. I'm not sure how that makes him selfish. Criticizing a player is one thing, but doing so out of an opinion that isn't supported statistically opens up that opinion for debate.
I agree 4.5 assists per 36 from a bench player certainly doesn't indicate ball-hog, chucker, selfish player on review. However, purely as a fan/spectator (non number cruncher) watching Jamal in each game so far, it seems that he freezes out his teammates whilst looking solely for his own shot; complete with horse blinkers on. That's the part of his game that I don't care for. He may pick up an assist here and there, or in transition, but on the whole, even though Nate may have given him the green light, IMO his style is to the detriment of the team as a whole. It takes guys out of the loop, ruins the flow of the team offense and I'm sure will have an effect on the team chemistry in the long run. . .
Well his USG rate this year is at 28.1%, highest on the team. So yeah, he gets assists; but he also shoots a ton.
