really? Seattle is a bunch of yuppie scum. SF is a little grittier, but they still have money but they're not so nouveau riche about it.
I hate the Seahawks passionatly; I've had to put up with having every single one of their crap games shoved on my TV because it's "local" coverage for 20 years. Meanwhile we're missing coverage of an epic battle between elite teams so Portland can be shown every second of a 3-11 celler dweller.
niner fan my whole life, was born in oakland, grew up in san jose ive been a fan the last ten years when they sucked asshole, so i get to enjoy their success even more now
Cuz they're fucking rad, dude. Been a Niners fan since long before I even knew what the fuck football was. There are a lot of SF Giants and Niners fans in Oregon. Both Seattle teams sucked for long and so hard that I think a lot of people supported those teams, since they were the closest respectable franschises in their leagues. Both has some pretty rich history, overall. As for myself, I have a lot of family from CA, including the Bay Area, so I've always supported those teams.
lots of peeps moved from cali to oregon as well, and brought their fav teams with them. thank god i never ended up a warriors fan though!
Dude, all of CA is whack. It's all so different, that it should be cut into like 3 states (maybe 4 so that Disneyland is its own state). I make it down to LA 2-3 times/year and SF 3-4 times/year. LA is confusing as fuck (and that's even with my wife, who is from Pasadena, traveling with me). One minute, you seem to be in a decent area. The next moment, you're stepping through ghetto. I'll never forget my first visit to the USC campus. Rich, beautiful campus. We leave, and I drive not two blocks, and it's straight fuckin' ghetto.
go giants too! they come to fenway every 6 years? i think, but im gonna trek out to pittsburgh and catch a series this season
The Niners are pretty much the "local" team of Southern Oregon, so i grew up watching Jerry Rice and Steve Young. I always felt sorry for the people in school that liked the Seahawks lol, even though they were a better team there for a while. Unfortunately i am a Mariners fan, so didn't escape Seattle teams completely.
Yeah. In fact, every Niners game was always broadcast on TV here in Portland. When the Niners started going in the toilet and the Seahawks actually had a decent product on the field, that's when they stopped showing the Niners every weekend and started showing most Seahawks games. So, not only are the Niners are the 2nd-closest team to PDX, and obviously the more storied and respected franchise, many in Portland rarely saw the Seahawks play on TV until the last decade. So it does make sense there are so many Niners fans here - it's the team most of us were exposed to most frequently.
