Some people just have too much time on their hands. Even if she was dropping the f bomb, is that really petition/complaining worthy? Reminds me of Arrested Development. If (I still say if even though its confirmed) the movie ever gets made, they better keep the bleeping in place.
This is silly. The most famous "Fuuuuuuuudge" of all time was in the Christmas Story. Do they want to cut that scene out? Fuck that. I will say, though, that Hollywood does cross the line sometimes. There are a couple of scenes in Dexter where they shoot a little baby sitting in a large pool of blood crying. It just stuns me that any director or parent in their right mind thinks that this is acceptable in any way. I don't care if it's art or if the baby never remembers it, just sitting there watching it made me feel like I was watching child porn. I'm as liberal as they come with most things, but I've always resented the show, the director and the baby's parents for doing that.
You don't see a difference between a theatrical release and a prime-time TV show that millions of Americans watch with their kids? It does sound offensive, but if you're touchy about things like this, then surely you can understand why others are touching about profanity coming from the mouth of a child.
If the show glorifies the child swearing, minimizes the action's significance, or simply uses it gratuitously (as would be the case with the example Mook cited), then I would agree with the protest. If the purpose of the plot line is to responsibly (but humorously) illustrate a very common parenting issue, and highlight different viewpoints on the issue itself and proper handling thereof, then the protest is silly. It sounds to me like the latter is more than likely the case.
In the very first episode of Modern Family, they mocked some general asian stereotypes. Apparently, mocking stereotypes is ok, but dealing with a child swearing isn't. Fuck that. So you sit there and watch it with your kids, and when they comment on how Lily will be hard to say as an asian when she is older, you just laugh with your kids, but when there is a beeping sound, you're horribly offended. I guess. No Cussing Club. lol
im confused by some of the positions in here first off mook, i hear you to an extent, putting your infant into acting is semi shady but.... covering a child in stawberry sauce is not something to get too worked up about. if they even did it, it could have very well been cg, or chocolate... children cry. people get murdered. people make movies. should we not have children in movies? i mean really?? and as far as children swearing, most times they have them say "muffin flocker" or something and dub in the bad words, if people really have a problem with children saying "muffin flocker" im not sure what to say about that its art people
