better than Miller, but I admit I was wrong - the guy has been awful. Would have much rather have seen Nolan stay in the game tonight win or lose as opposed to putting "Wrong Way" in who has been awful in the 4th. Thanks a helluva lot Nate
Tonight against Philly, Andre goes off for 28 and 10 We could have had Dre and Nolan under his tutelage.....
I really liked the move, and I think it could still pay off eventually. But he's been god-awful so far
7-45 from 3pt so far this year. Boo his ass of the court until Nate stops playing that piece of shit.
Part of the reason was because Charlotte had the 5th pick and wanted a local guy. Also they were in need of a PG, and since D-Will and CP3 were taken off the board, the best remaining PG was Felton.
I could see the justification for the trade when it happened due to Miller's age and the fact that there wasn't much future left on that path, but I have to admit he's been far below even my low expectations. All I was hoping for was some generic sort of competence (low 40s shooting percentage, maybe low 30s on threes, some dimes, a few turnovers, etc.) and maybe he'll get it sorted out, but something is just off. I've seen him play off and on for most of his career and setting aside the numbers and stats, he's never looked quite this bad. On the plus side, I don't think it could get any worse.
Felton is who we thought he was. Or at least some of us. He's, at best, an average starting PG. He's a PG who shoots poorly given how often he shoots. I was hoping he had turned a corner, somehow, when he came to Portland but... he's just not that good. That we gave up more than Miller for him (we did, right? It's late and I've got some wine in me) is pretty bad. Ed O.
What I read at the time is that Bernie Bickerstaff (who at that time was Charlotte GM), loved Felton as a player. In fact Portland went to Charlotte first when they came up with their idiotic idea of trading down, but Charlotte didn't want to trade (I think they had the 11th and 5th), reportedly because Bickerstaff thought Felton was just as good as Williams and Paul. So there were actually two huge blunders in that draft; portland's decision to trade down and Charlotte's decision not to trade up. I wonder how much input Bickerstaff had into Blazers trading for Felton? Anyway, I still think Felton could be good if he could just get back to his normal shooting percentage and push the ball consistently. If he had come into camp in shape, this wouldn't be so difficult. But it seems to me that this idea of playing himself into shape in a condensed schedule season is not working so well. But also i don't think his defense will ever be very good; he seems to be caught leaning the wrong way a lot.
Felton looked good in a two-game stretch and I thought he was going to make me eat crow... But he's reminding me why I was so adamant about packaging whatever it took for Rondo earlier this season. He can't shoot either but Felton is making him look like Steve Nash in that regard. It's amazing that LaMarcus has averaged 23 PPG this month while getting absolutely NO help from his shooters outside of Nic.
Growing Pains, he'll get it back and so will the Blazers. The chemistry between Felton and LMA is unique. Never saw that between Dre and LMA. I think by the end of the year, they will be a dynamic duo. Felton doesn't need to focus on scoring, or getting his shot back, he needs to focus on distributing and running the offense. He does that, and the rest will come.
I disagree. I thought he would play to his average statistics throughout his career. He hasn't been close to this point.
