Who's summer league play will have the most relevance as to their role with their team this coming season? Also are there any players who played their way onto and NBA roster?

Allan Ray played his way onto the Celtics NBA roster..John Lucas III made sure he would be signed by the Rockets by averaging 23/8..Brandon Roy showed he can run the point and score the basketball..

Umm a guy that's been overlooked because of everyones infatuations with their fave players is Maurice Ager and his play in the Summer Leagues. As for the question, I think he's shown how valuable he'll be in his role on the Mavs...he has a damn good outside shot, and has shown the ability to score and spread the floor...some have said he has no handle, but he's a SG, not a PG...and when not forced to make his own shot, he's capable with the ball.

I think Amare earned a spot on the roster. :happy0144: Chuck Hayes maybe? He was a rebounding machine.

I say John Lucas. He did great in this summer league and he can really play. He did great in college for Eddie Sutton so i dont know why he went undrafted...Maybe his size?

If John Lucas hadn't played in the summer league, then he probably wouldn't have even been given a passing glance by any team looking to fill a roster. Now, he's almost guaranteed an NBA contract. Most guys in the summer league are guys who have a better chance at making the And1 tour than the NBA. But, you never know, there's always a chance of finding a gem in a sea of mud

John Lucas, possibly Steve Novak, Allan Ray (even tho i believe he was going to make the roster anyways), Casey Jacobson, maybe that gilchrist guy.

I hope Andray Blatche becomes part of the rotation this season. He had 38 pts and 12 rebs against the Mavs.

Alex Acker really stepped up. The Pistons are weak at point guard too, with Chauncey and Lindsey as the only ones on the depth chart. Perhaps Penny Hardaway can make it onto the Orlando squad. He had a pretty good Summer League.

I see him more as a Boris Diaw type. That comparison was lovely, though. [IMG]

To answer this question all I have to say is this: If John Lucas doesn't get a contract, 30 GM's have no idea what they are doing.

They are both going after him. Why do the Rockets have a better shot?

Plus, if he plays on Phoenix, how much time is he going to get behind Steve Nash? Houston might not be able to guarantee playing time for him, but at least they can say he has a chance. Plus, he played for Houston last year, and he got good minutes for an undrafted rookie 12th man.

Any back-up point guard should get plenty of time here. Nash won't get much more than 30 min. next year if they find a good back-up. I just heard they are setting their sights on Banks now so I guess Lucas can go to the Rockets.

So were we. You're giving him something like $21 million. I think that's a bit overpriced, but that's your affair. In any case, it seems that Lucas is now officially ours.
