After finishing their worst season in franchise history, the two and 14 Indianapolis Colts wasted no time making changes to the coaching and management departments of their historic sports betting franchise. With a new general manager selected and a Head Coach on the way, it is now time for the Colts staff to focus on which players they want to draft and to bring back for next season. One rumor floating around is that the price per head Colts are willing to trade franchise quarterback Peyton Manning. But would doing such a significant move be the right or wrong thing to do for a franchise in a state of flux? Since arriving in Indianapolis in the late 1990s, Peyton Manning has grown from a good quarterback out of college to a franchise star in Indianapolis. This past off season while the NFL lockout was going on, Manning underwent what was expected to be minor neck surgery. Instead, the aforementioned surgery ended Manning’s season, as he suffered a slew of set backs in the rehabilitation process. As a result, the Colts were forced to exploit their lackluster backup quarterback situation, starting the season with the over the hill Kerry Collins, and ending the season with fourth stringer Dan Orlovskey. With Manning watching helplessly, fans and media alike were able to witness just how reliant the Colts were on his services. Nevertheless, with the Colts owning the first overall draft choice in the 2012 NFL score draft, the belief is the team will take former Stanford Cardinal and fellow franchise quarterback Andrew Luck. What’s interesting to note, is that rather then wait to see how Manning fairs in training camp, and possibly next season, rumors are circulating, that Colts owner Jim Irsay and new general manager Ryan Grigson formerly of Philadelphia, are considering trading Manning. The possibility of a trade arose, after Irsay fired former general manager Bill Polian and Grigson let Jim Caldwell go, so that he could hire his own Head Coach. After reading this bookie software information, that Peyton Manning may be traded, we began to scratch our heads, as why would the Colts ever consider doing that. Yes, they may have a future franchise quarterback in Andrew Luck, but you know who else was a supposed can’t miss franchise quarterback? JaMarcus Russell of the Oakland Raiders and Ryan Leaf of the San Diego Chargers. Both of those quarterbacks had impressive college careers but couldn’t perform in the NFL. Are the Colts really willing to bank on Andrew Luck, and give up on a quarterback in Manning who gave them 141 wins, 11 playoff appearances, six divisional titles, two AFC Championship appearances and one Super Bowl? In our opinion, the Colts would be foolish to trade Peyton Manning, as he can provide them with stability that Luck may not be able too. Wouldn’t they rather have Luck learn from Manning, similar to Aaron Rodgers learning from Brett Favre and then taking over? Or better yet, if Manning were forced to retire due to his neck injury, wouldn’t he be an excellent offensive coordinator for Luck and the Colts offense? Trading Peyton Manning is one thing we hope Jim Irsay never allows Ryan Grigson to consider.

And just to clarify, the Colts would have to pickup the huge option on Peyton before they could trade him. They would probably let him walk and better serve the team by using their money in free agency. The two QB's sited in the article (Leaf and Russell) were rated no where near Luck.
