    GOD NO!

If you want to achieve the same effect, simply get Batum to wear stacked shoes and have him lobotomized.

What about the whole rebuilding thing eh? Rebuilding with Wallace now? Or is McGee going to lead us to a championship?? Can't we do Wallace + E. Williams for J. McGee + a forward contract like Blatche.

I may be in the minority but i tell the wizards no. McGee is a big whos offensive game is limited who looks lost on d and only seems to care about blocks. Id rather call up memphis and try to get speights.

You'd prefer a dude with no defense at all, who is a black hole on offense. Interesting.

I love Nic, but productive bigs are on another level.

    Which is why Washington declines.

I'm not sure why the Wizards would do this deal, but if it happened, Portland would have to throw in at least one first-round pick, if not two.

They wouldn't do this deal. People are just over valuing our players again

Well both are going to be RFA and we know Nic likes Ptd. I would want the player that is likely going to be in Ptd on a long term contract.

I see the question as do you consider McGee the center of the future for the Blazers, because whatever team "gets" him will be paying him starting center salary and he will tie up a big chunk of salary cap.

Speights is a better one on one and help defender he doesnt block shots though. Neither one is a good defender. They are both black holes on offense but speights has better post moves.

Think we could just give him a decent sized contract? Possibly front loaded? It'd nix any hope of getting Williams at the PG but we'd have a for sure decent big in the middle. And a lineup of Batum McGee Aldridge Wes is pretty tough defensively.

This is why I am iffy on that deal. It would be a lot to over pay him when he offers very specific skills. Batum is much more of an all around guy and much more likely to hold more value as a glue guy. But more than anything my gut tells me no on this on. Its pretty high risk.

What? You're kidding me right. Big guys, let alone PRODUCTIVE big guys, hold their value much better than any other position in the league. Look at Kwame Brown for gods sakes.

I'm not certain McGee will become an average NBA starter. If you can get bigs like Kurt Thomas and Craig Smith for the minimum, is spending $10+ million a year worth the upgrade to McGee? I don't believe so. Not that I necessarly think Nic is a superior prospect, but I'd probably decline this deal if management projects it'll take $10million+ per year for a long term deal to resign McGee.

    Interesting idea though.

The NBA is transforming to a league where to be a great team you need players that outperform their contracts. Lebron and Wade even on max deals outperform their contracts. LaMarcus outperforms his contract. Deron Williams outperforms his contract. Nic Batum on a $5.5 million deal will outperform his contract. McGee at $10+ million will not outperform his contract, and thus would not be a step towards making us a contending team.

If we trade Batum it would mean LaMarcus is the only player on our roster who has played more then one full season here.

How are we defining "productive" here? "Puts up big numbers on a monumentally shitty team?" "Gets coaches fired?" Actually, I can see why the Nate-haters would want to trade for him, then.

Seriously: Javale McGee doesn't know how to play basketball. He is tall and springy and getting minutes because there is nobody good on that team. Chris Johnson could get his numbers on that team with his minutes.

He may hold his value but I dont thinks his rebounds and blocks hold more value than Batums all around game does. And thats right now much less Batums potential in the coming. You may not want to hear potenital but it is what it is. There is also something to be said about understanding the game how that makes your teammates better.
