Biggins (ESPN) tweeted today that Cal is the team to beat Cal fans took that as akin to an SI cover curse STOMP
Kelly doing an in-home visit with Armstead on Thursday. Shaq's making contact with Oregon players is a good sign as well, because if Shaq goes to Oregon, DT says Armstead will go as well. EDIT: Kelly will be Armstead's last in-home visit. Also Kelly will also visit Shaq on Friday.
just to be clear, this is just me speculating/hoping on a looooong shot. In past years my record speculating on similar long shots is 0% that said, lead pipe lock STOMP
Actually, weren't you accurate on the DAT signing last year? I remember you as saying UO had a good shot, even though USC seemed to be a lock.
That's what happens when teams go to 3 straight BCS bowls under the same coach after being largely mediocre for the previous zillion years. I suppose if Chip had Mike Riley's record the past three years, you'd be happy because then Oregon football would be bigger than a coach likely to soon be fired? I find it funny how people expect Chip to be so loyal, yet if the team wasn't winning, the same people would have no problem firing him and looking for a winner.
1997-2001, the Ducks had a 23-game home winning streak at Autzen. It was a record Flip just couldn't match because in 2011, the USC Trojans defeated the Ducks 38-35 ending a 21-game home winning streak, in a game that left even the moderate fan questioning the 3 quarters of flat play and misuse of time outs. Mediocre is 2001 too.
I hope it's okay if I break in on this ongoing drama thats now spilled over into the recruiting thread with some recruiting stuff... it seems that both Javon Williams & Jaydon Mickens have recently been told thanks but no thanks by Oregon. Both are said to have some eligibility/qualifying concerns, so maybe the compliance office had something to do with this change, or maybe it's something else. Williams, who is Dion Jordan's cousin, sounded particularly bummed about it. We've passed on some really good kids this year... I wonder whats going to be under the tree? STOMP
I guess we waited too long for Williams as he's now choosing between UCLA and Arkansas. Too many wide receiver targets we didn't want to offer him yet. Thomas Johnson, Chance Allen, Bralon Addison, Julian Brooks, and maybe Nelson Agholor are all higher on our target list. Also we can cross Kimbo Slice errr I mean Menelik Watson off the list, he's no longer visiting us on the 27th and says he is done with visits.
Wow, Talk about some bitter UW fans! I guess this is what happens when your team sucks? Some of them are very funny, in that they are so sadly bitter. Looks like they are pissed that we may pull Shaq from them? http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=147&f=1361&t=8611726 No class man. Didn't have it when I was there in the late 90s, still don't I suppose... Thomas Tyner was a bit upset Sunday, but seems to be over it now. http://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/index.ssf/2012/01/chip_kellys_near_exit_wont_hur.html Interesting to note from the comments section: ~70% of PSAs from the 2008 class saw the coach they signed with leave within their 5-year window. Fairly amazing stat, and it surprised me.
it's been confirmed that two WR prospects (Bralon Addison & Chance Allen) who are verbally committed to other programs will be in Eugene this weekend. STOMP
Rivals predictions on remaining uncomitted top 100... not so favorable as the scout one. http://oregon.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1322138
also JH is reporting Texas offered Bryce Cottrell hopefully we can keep him. http://oregon.247sports.com/Article/Texas-has-offered-Oregon-commit-Bryce-Cottrell-58515
This is promising: GregBiggins Colony (Calif.) ATH Bryan Harper said #Oregon head coach Chip Kelley was in the home tonight and he solidified his visit for this weekend If you haven't looked at his highlights: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAtysHTOb78 Long strider, great vertical, and he is actually quite physical...
