Has anyone ever seen the Expanding Earth theory? Even Darwin hypothesized that our planet could be growing.
Well it would make a lot of sense; since most scientist believe that every molecule spreads out until the gravity evenutally is so weak nothing holds together.
Most scientists? I can't say. However, he did describe the Big Rip hypothesis. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Rip
Where do you get your science from man? There is the strong force that works on atomic/molecular levels. there is also the electric force, the most common bonding agent. Gravity is SIGNIFICANTLY weaker than both of these forces.
the Big Rip is on a scale significantly different than molecular. That's like saying quantum mechanics applies to orb its of planets.
Big Rip has to do with Dark Energy overcoming gravity first, then overcoming the strong force that binds atoms together. It has nothing to do with gravity. Dark Energy isn't understood well enough.
From Mag's post: "most scientist believe that every molecule spreads out until the gravity evenutally is so weak nothing holds together". He wasn't describing the Big Rip hypothesis, but I agree that there are some similarities. EDIT: On second read, it does seem like Mags was referring to the Big Rip, just mixing up his forces. Sorry, yo!
well.. technically QM applies to everything in the universe. fortunately its effects can be safely ignored when calculating large scale things like the orbits of planets.
