The Montreal Canadiens went into the All-Star break with a blowout victory. The Detroit Red Wings played as though they started their vacation early.

David Desharnais had two goals and an assist, and Montreal ended Detroit's seven-game winning streak with a 7-2 victory over the Red Wings on Wednesday night in the NHL's final game before the break.
