As Super Bowl betting activity increases and the betting lines start to shift, one of the focuses on this game is how each offense will fare. The two quarterbacks in this game have shown that they are more than able to get the job done under pressure and in the big game. Even though New York’s Eli Manning got the best of New England’s Tom Brady the last time these two teams met in the Super Bowl in 2007, much has changed since that meeting that could affect the outcome of this game. The price per head sports experts always analyze every angle of a Super Bowl before releasing the odds, and the bettors must see something in the Giants’ offense because the line keeps shifting to the favor of the New York team every time the line is adjusted. Lets take a look at each offense and break them down to see who may have the advantage and what challenges each offense will face. New England Patriots The pay per head sports experts are kind of mystified at how Tom Brady keeps scoring points with an offense like the one that the New England Patriots have. The Patriots brought in Chad Ochocinco to try and develop a long passing game, but Ochocinco has barely been on the field. Right around the mid-point of the season, the Patriots all but abandoned the running game and running backs Danny Whitehead and BenJarvus Green-Ellis were put on the shelf. What keeps the Patriots going is its offensive line and its two tight ends; Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez. The other secret weapon in the Patriots’ offense that is not so secret is Wes Welker. Welker finished the season as the best wide receiver in the league with more yards and more catches than anyone else. But Welker does most of his work after the catch, and that does not allow the Patriots to stretch out the field. A sportsbook review of the Patriots’ offense as it entered the playoffs shows that the running game was put back into the mix but an extremely key element was lost in the AFC Championship game. Rob Gronkowski hurt his knee in the fourth quarter of the championship game and did damage that will hamper his ability to play in the Super Bowl. Gronkowski may suit up for the big game, but his mobility will be limited and that will significantly affect the Patriots’ offense. New York Giants The Giants have tried to rely on the running game more, but running backs Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs, and a cast of at least three other backs, have added a little to the playoff offense this year. But much of the offensive production has come from quarterback Eli Manning and his wide receivers. Eli and his wide receivers have been responsible for some exciting NFL scores this season. Eli and Victor Cruz own the record for the longest touchdown pass from scrimmage at 99 yards. Along with Mario Manningham and Hakeem Nicks, Cruz is part of one of the most potent long ball passing games the NFL has ever seen. The problem for the Patriots is that the New England defense is extremely susceptible to the long ball and that will be the difference in who wins Super Bowl XLVI.
