Not really. It's as you said, they would rather take a D1 team close to home, same deal with DJ Foster or any recruits in Orange County going to USC.

But, considering how important those 2 are, they should pick the program they think they will improve to go play in the NFL.

they both seem like good kids so I'll root for them to succeed regardless of where they go

...except Seattle (fill in the blank)

This site I subscribe to. Division1a on there isn't staff but he said he used to work for Rivals, and gives out tons of information on there that has so far been pretty accurate. He says he has a relationship with both Arik and Shaq and talks to them on a regular basis.

Here are some of his quotes.

"AA and Shaq are meeting right now..."

"Sorry for the delay guys. As you know, the Armsteads are family to me. So there is only so much I can say. I'm not the type to cross boundaries and ruin relationships over breaking news that the family wants to stay confidential.

What I can tell you is that Chip Kelly wowed the family last night. They also liked Pellum a lot. Chip was very honest and set out a game plan that he had for Arik. In my opinion, Oregon is in the lead with Cal. I have no idea who it will be. Oregon has a great chance here...But this is recruiting, and Cal is the home school.

The Armsteads will take a few days to think things over. I'd expect Arik to reach a decision in a few days.

In regards to the visit with UW, that also went well. But as I've said many times, they aren't a real player here.

This is either Oregon or Cal."

Coming down the wire here folks.

Your parents will always be happy with your choice! And Oregon has a rather pristine Education(I've walked around campus up there). It's not like your mom is like that mom whose kid was a Louisana-ian and picked Alabama. Go with what you think would be your best chance to harness your skills and talent as a football player. Look at Chip Kelly, he turned a program that was so-so into a National power and was able to upthrone both USC and Stanford twice in the same year(almost this year...).

And besides, many football players like it up there. As long as you keep a good and moral head on your shoulders, you will have an amazing time there!

my first impression was that this sounded like a Dear John letter to Oregon fans with the apologies about having to keep stuff in house... :lovemenot:

the bolded part is just funny how he's going back and forth contradicting himself

I really have no idea, but to be honest I can understand if they do decide for Cal. It's a great school in a great town. I think UW would be a sign that they are gullible, falling for sleazy sales pitches and empty promises. These guys seem brighter than that.

However, I do sincerely believe heading to Oregon would be best for their careers as football players. Berkeley is great, but Oregon is a real football town and for college football I'll take Autzen any day over nearly any place in the country. Not to mention, they will get the chance to win a national championship. I'm supremely confident that will never happen at Cal or UW! ZERO CHANCE!!!

I also think that without AA we don't have a chance with Shaq. My bet is that without him Shaq goes elsewhere. Interesting since I think most of us thought AA would follow Shaq.

Jared Ebert & Ricky Heimuli are both 4* DTs and I'm guessing Hart, Keliikipi, & Remington expect to remain in the rotation next year. 5 capable guys for two spots is a pretty full cupboard IMO. 3 of the guys who have given their verbal (Bair Balducci Daniels) are projected to play inside

maybe it came down to him looking at the depth chart and seeing an unwanted Redshirt year awaited him at Oregon? That shouldn't be the case at UCLA

I like this quote even better...

"Oregon is one school who didn't negatively recruit." Guss Armstead "They don't need to. They have a lot to sell."

One thing I'm confused is how the Florida colleges get amazing prospects, yet last year they have fallen flat on themselves(UF went 6-6, FSU went 8-4). And Miami did mediorce as well.

What makes them so appealing? UF doesn't have Urban Meyer anymore.

they're located in the middle of maybe the best recruiting area in the country. Kids grew up seeing those Urban Meyer teams win on national TV, so they undoubtedly have young fans everywhere. It's a traditional SEC powerhouse. Those are my best stabs at it :)

Except Urban Meyer is with OSU now, Florida already had its golden age. Better to move to greener pastures than try to hope something can grow from a dying field.

Love it! I got a GREAT feeling that we are going to land Armstead! His parents are practically begging him to go to us. I think if we land Armstead theres a very very very good chance we land Shaq as well!
