This writer seems to think it's pretty likely.

A while back I would've been keen on getting him, but he's pretty thoroughly destroyed his credibility over the past 4 or 5 years, to the point that Sacramento has one of the ickiest rosters in the league.

Golden opportunity for PA to redeem himself by bringing him in.

Wow that would be awesome! Always been a Petrie GM fan. Has he lost his touch though? Had some really iffy moves the last 5 years.

With that ownership in place, he was sorta handcuffed.

handcuffed into...what? Signing Hayes, and then, after failing and passing a physical, signing him for MORE. He just signed Outlaw for 3 million a year off of amnesty. He traded BACK 3 spots in the draft, just so he could move Udrih, only to get stuck with Salmons and his worse contract?! handcuffed how, exactly?

I'd take Petrie in a heartbeat. Pritchard made some bad calls, too, but he also built a very impressive roster. They all make mistakes, but Petrie definitely has the tools of a great GM.

Just the feeling I got after reading the Kings blog. Didn't the Outlaw deal just barely push them over the league required minimum salary for a team?

    Here's a fan's depiction:

I dont like the thorton signing coupeled with the fact they drafted a sg in jimmer and how thw kings last year talked about how evans was really a sg not a pg then they go and trade there only pure pg for salmons. That team is a hot mess. As much as i like presti this sacromento team does not instill confidance in me that he can still be a solid gm.

    Presti, no. Petrie, yes.

He gets more right than he does wrong.

Petrie's reign has been a disaster the last ... half decade? More?

Maybe it's the ownership, or maybe it's Petrie.

I don't think it makes sense for the Blazers to bring in someone who has the stink of failure on them.

WHAT????!?!?! The kings suck? What good moves have they ever made that won them games? They've been horrible for a long time. I've never looked at the kings and thought to myself, "Wow!That team has put together a lot of really nice players, they must have a smart GM." If we're going to get a good GM, or at least a GM to get excited about, he should be coming from a team like the Lakers, Celtics, Spurs, Bulls, Heat, or Mavericks etc. What has this Petrie guy ever done to really improve the Kings? I can't believe people are getting excited about the possibility of bringing in the GM of the 2nd worst team in the Western Conference. This is a ridiculous thread

I've liked Petrie's eye for talent in the past, but that collection of black-holes on the King's roster has to at least be partially his fault ... one wonders how much interference he gets from the Maloofs when it comes to drafting and acquiring players though?

To me, Petrie has always been a great GM at assembling pieces to the puzzle. If you have to rebuild with Petrie, not a good idea.
