It depends on the site... I think he'd be considered a five star at OL, but some places only have him as a four star at DL. And some sites are pretty stingy with five stars--ESPN only has 11 five stars right now. Ed O.

It's tough to know if they're bad (many would assert they are) or biased against the west coast (many would assert they are) or if they're just stingy with their five stars (they DEFINITELY are stingy). To be fair to ESPN, they had DAT at an 84 and the 16th overall player. George Farmer (85) is the only guy on USC or Oregon this year or last that was that highly rated. They have AA, as a defensive player, at an 83, they are relatively high on him, too, even though he's not five star. Ed O.
Athlete at this point. Sign him up and let him compete. If you can't crack the rotation at one spot, then you can move to another spot, like Barner/Maehl did once Chip became OC. That's Chip's system. Armstead will get the same shot on defense, but if there are better players, you might see him move to OT, where he will be an All-American player.
Bad news: TonyDiFrancisco Oregon also gets some bad news in recruiting. 3-star Inside LB Bryce Cottrell out of Plano, TX has flipped his commitment to U of Texas. That leaves only Bafaro at LB in the 2012 class. No other LBs this year. Pretty rough, and kind of shocking when you consider how well our LBs have played and the prospect of early playing time. MJA

I realize Chip is big on getting athletes and finding a place for them. We need speed and size on the corners. I'm trying to gauge where they have in mind for him. Dunmore will probably be a safety? Maybe wideout? I remember Boyett was primarily a utility back in high school. He's turned into a helluva safety. Hawkins on the other hand shouldn't be catching (or attempting to) balls.
But can he run from his own end zone when Chip runs the fake punt from his own 10 yard line on 4th and 25?
