This thread will hear some Yao's, some Peja's, some Ben Gordon's, and more. I don't agree with either of the three, so let's hear it.

Yao Ming is overrated for the fact that he led the the all stars in voting but i understand why that was. I honestly don't think there is a player who is the most overrated in the league. Nobody really stands out that I can think of.

He will start at center in the ASG regardless every year because he's the only very good center and he has China voting for him.

Yao is probably the best center or second best in the league right now which is why he got so many votes, he had a career year to add to that.

Ray Allen. I know I'll get blasted for it, but I feel he is extremely overrated. Shawn Marion is another overrated player IMO (although he is great, but not as good as his stats show).

Chinese overrate Yao as being the best in the league. It's not true, but as long as he gets to start for the Western Conference All-Star Team, he gets what he deserves.LakersFan247, the closest to Yao is Marcus Camby, not Brad Miller.

I think Billups is overrated. I just don't see him worthy of being an MVP candidate. He had a great regular season but his fg% is usually low and his defense is not as good as advertised. With that said the Pistons would be nothing without Billups but he is not an MVP candidate imo.

YAO MING IS NOT OVERRATED! I am sick an tired of people doggin on this guy. He is going to have a breakout season this year kinda like his 2nd half of this past season. If you watched him play, he was dominant. I dont know what it takes for people to give him his due.YAO MING IS NOT OVERRATED! I am sick an tired of people doggin on this guy. Personally, I think alot of PG's could be on that team replacing him and the team would be just as good. And as for LBJ, he isnt overrated. He is one of the best 2 players in the league with Kobe and he is 21. He IS going to better than MJ. Not a doubt in my mind.

Maybe Chris Paul now.Remember most the the Suns players were scrubs on other teams. They became better once they joined the Suns and Steve Nash.Nash isn't overrated. He is right where is he is supposed to be. He makes his teammates better and is a true floor leader. Most other PG's try to score on their own disregarding their teammates or they just aren't good.If every other team tried to run an offense like the Suns 95% would fail miserably at it, mainly because they don't have Nash.

But I would probably have to say Peja. That's kinda tough to say because I like him. Don't get me wrong, he's a good player and definitely one of the most deadly shooters of the last decade, no doubt about that. But his overall status as a player is overrated a little bit in my eyes. I mean he's as one-dimensional as they come. Besides his shot what's so good about him? His defense is widely underrated in my opinion, but it's near average. His passing skills is average. Taking it to the basket - improved a lot in the past few years, but again - average. Take away his shot and he is a skinnier version of Brian Scalabrine haha, ok maybe that's taking it a little too far.But he's not as consistant as he should be. I mean if his shot is off one night, you can't count on him to help your team much for the rest of the game. Sure, don't get me wrong, when his shot is on then you pretty much can not stop him. But he's not as consistant as he should be and I think he is way too one-dimensional to be considered a "star" in this league.I chuckled when I saw someone write Ray Allen. I think he is vastly underrated actually. People get caught up with the Kobe's, the T-Mac's, the LeBron's, the Wade's, etc.. they never talk about Ray Allen. Even when Seattle had an EXCELLENT year in 04-05 they didn't talk about him as much as they should. The guy is one of the best shooters ever and has a textbook jumper, he is a great guy, an awesome leader, and he does more on the court than just shoot the ball. His athleticism is very underrated (in my opinion, mainly because he doesn't throw down windmill dunks on the break like LeBron/Kobe/etc), he uses his teammates, he plays very solid defense, and he fights to the very end. I just had to get that off my chest; no way in hell should Ray Allen's name be mentioned in this topic.

Andrei Kirilenko has 145 million Russians behind him, yet he's not up there either, is he?And if the Chinese overrate Yao, how about Mengke Bateer and Wang ZhiZhi? Wang was even more endeared than Yao when he came into the NBA, yet he didn't lead the All-Star voting, did he?
