Arsenal signed German-Croatian midfielder Thomas Eisfeld at the transfer deadline last night. Eisfeld, 19, has been with Borussia Dortmund since 2005. In 2009 he suffered a near career-ending knee injury. His transfer fee was £420,000.

Eisfeld is quoted as saying in-form Arsenal midfielder Thomas Rosicky is his footballing idol. "In my opinion, he's a great player and I focus on his game. But I play a little bit differently. I think I can read the game very well and my technique is quite good."

The signing comes on the heels of Arsenal learning that midfielder Jack Wilshere is expected to miss the remainder of the season after a rehabilitation setback.

So once again we're signing yet another player made of glass?

Like most Arsenal fans I was hoping for that other 19-year old German from Dortmund...

I wasn't impressed with Gotze at all when we played them in the UCL.

But they're the only times I've ever seen him play, so what would I know? :dunno:
