<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Denver Nuggets are close to trading for newly acquired Bull J.R. Smith, the Rocky Mountain News is reporting. It is unsure how the potential deal may affect the Nuggets handling of the Francisco Elson situation. Elson signed an offer sheet with the San Antonio Spurs and the Nuggets have until Thursday to match.Elson, whose playing time has been erratic, hopes the Nuggets don't match the deal, which would have him receive $3 million each of the next two years."I don't think you can keep all those big men on one team," Elson said Friday. "That's too much big guys."Elson spoke with Warkentien on Thursday but said Warkentien didn't speculate what might be done.Source: Rocky Mountain News</div>
I found this on basketballboards when I was trying to recruit:<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Before Griffin’s signing becomes official, the Bulls will send shooting guard J.R. Smith to Denver for two future second-round draft picks and the nonguaranteed contract of point guard Howard Eisley, who will then be released.</div>
This is gonna be nice for the Nuggets. As soon as I heard the Bulls had agreed to terms with Griffin I knew Smith would be moved, well I already figured he would be, but this just confirmed those thoughts. This is gonna be great for the Nuggets. I think Karl is gonna kick his ass and make him a good player. I am excited to see him and Melo play together, nice young duo. He will look good in a Nuggets uni.
It will be a good pick up, but remember he was lazy and undisciplined in New Orleans. He'll need to turn that attitude around in Denver. It is a low risk - potentially high reward trade. Smith is young, cheap, runs the floor well, and has good range on his shot. If he gets his practice habits straightened out and wants to improve he'll be great.I figure they'll resign DeMarr too and let Smith and DeMarr compete for the starting SG spot. I am assuming the Nuggets don't trade Martin for a SG.
In the KOTC sim league, i'm the nuggets and i got JR on the team! They probably saw what i was doing with the nuggets and wanted to go in that direction. lmao.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Elson has a big dick so I say keep him in Denver! He is also a good post defender and a needed rebounder to the Nuggets. But J.R. Smith has a small dick and is a headcase but they get him maybe George Karl can loan him viagra? </div> I think your going to be gone in a few days, just a hunch. But just wanted to add, I think Kmart version 2.0 has entered the Rocky Mountains.

Assuming the get JR, the Nuggets will have some sensitive players in the locker room. Martin, Smith, Patterson, 'Melo, Camby (at times).
Denver would be a good place for JR. He would fit right in with the offense and he brings athleticsim and good shooting. This could only be good for JR.
i hoped phx could get JR, but whatever, just give him playing time.i like elson's comment: they already have too much centers on their team. That's too MANY, man.

Once George came, 'Melo drove to the whole more often and is not lazy at all.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Jr isnt THAT great of a shooter</div> Yes I must agree with that. But he's someone who wants to learn and gain as a player. JR Smith so far, does not have that kind of respect for the game. I don't know if any of you watched NBA Rookies but JR Smith on the show came off as a brat, immature and should have went to college. He was spoiled by his dad who bragged about his son and builds him up like he's the best thing since sliced bread. On top of it, he was still acting like a young kid(loves Spongebob, wore Spongebob slippers). He's got a long way to go in terms of fixing his ego and maturity. Until he does, this pickup to me is like Kenyon Martin's arrival. Flashy but possibly a problem.
We are already the best fast break team in the league,. This does nothing but help us even more in the open floor.
I like this deal for Denver. They get a young SG who is freakishly athletic, can shoot, and is really a scoring machine. The only concern is his work ethic, but if Karl can get that straight, no doubt JR Smith will be a pretty good player in this league. I'm glad this is going down for JR, because no way would he find any time in Chicago playing behind Gordon, Deng, Nocioni, Sefolosha, and even some Ty Thomas at the 3 and Hinrich at the 2.
Well before Karl came to Denver, 'Melo was lazy and always settled for the jump shot. Once George came, 'Melo drove to the whole more often and is not lazy at all.
I assume you are implying that Karl can work with Smith in making him less lazy. I hope so. 'Melo got it and listened. But if you look at Martin, Karl tried to get Martin to practice harder and he didn't. Sometimes a coach can try as hard as possible, but at the end it comese down to the player and what he has in his head. But I like the trade and I do hope Smith gets his act together and learns from Karl and maybe more importantly assistant coach Tim Grgurich - who I really credit with helping 'Melo with his game.
Yes I must agree with that. He's overrated as a shooter, he's as good as Buckner was and I know how you all say he sucks at shooting.
Yes. He is inconstent, but he can improve. He has a much higher ceiling the Buckner had (who I think hit his ceiling last year). Smith also is a better overall scorer. The Nuggets need shooting, but they also need just a general scorer and they have one now (hopefully).
Melo is a smart player though, I wouldn't say he became lazy, just complacent and fell in love with the jumper at times. But he has adjusted and is willing to work now, as I mentioned in the other post, coach Grgurich had a lot to do with it.
I don't know if any of you watched NBA Rookies but JR Smith on the show came off as a brat, immature and should have went to college. In today's paper he talked about him already being a fan favorite and how he can dunk the ball. He didn't talk about working on his game. It is kind of scary. But he is young enough that hopefully he can still work on his game and attitude and grow up. Time will tell. But at the end it was a low risk, potentially high reward scenario. You don't get very many of those in the NBA.
