In games which have been decided by 5pts or less: 1-7

And that one win was an anomaly, as Philly made some bullshit threes to make the final score seem closer than it actually was.

Why don't we win on the road? They games are closer, and we don't have a closer.

No we don't, but Nate plays Felton and Crawford like they are. FFS stop the madness.

I'm sure we could actually pull off some of these wins if they just play a little differently in the 4th. (eg. Crawford and Felton don't shoot everything in the clutch)

That has a lot to do with coaching.

No other options. I hate them too, but Nolan and Armon are trash.

This too, I suppose. Nate had Brandon to bail him out before, but his absence now truly indicative of how bad Nate is.

What's sad is that if we could have just split those games at 4-4, we'd be in 2nd place in the conference and probably feeling a lot better about ourselves. 3 games....3 baskets. You can chalk that up to our guards pathetic shooting and bone headed plays.

Do you guys ever see any other team blow 3-1 fast breaks? I only see the Blazers doing it.

True. I know Matthews doesn't have Blake Griffin's jumping ability, but to be stuffed by Isaiah Thomas and Marcus Thornton on fast breaks is just embarassing. I like Matthews but he should not be starting. He would make a good 7th or 8th man off the bench.

at the end of games teams just deny LA the ball and wait tell our guards fuck up and lose it for us. We desperately need a Manu type player which Wallace seems to be at home but who can be it on the road that we can get?

We have no closer. You can't go inside to LMA over and over in clutch situations because teams will double and dare Wallace or Felton to beat them.

I think, of players we have, Batum could be a candidate. He played that role in Europe and was actually really good in close games down the stretch. Before he went down with injury he had just hit three threes in the fourth. But what would that say about Crawford, who was supposedly signed for that purpose?

Here is an old list of stats per quarter - can anyone find a more recent?

It has to be Batum - it's evident it won't be any of our guards.

Nic is definitely a good selection. I just don't think Nate trusts him enough as he should. And what's more glaring is that Felton and Crawful trust him even less (I mean, come on. He's fucking better than you guys. Give him the ball!)

Sometimes there is a tiny part of me that wished that the team was stripped down to LMA and Batum just to see how far we could develop Batum into that role since we would be pretty much forced to at that point.

Yes. Nolan and Armon are not better. The bigger problem IMO is that, for example last night, Felton and Crawford were completely out of control when it mattered. I haven't yet been able to remove the painful image of the entire team clearing out the lane for Crawford to run the Iso-Roy offense -- over and over again, to the same ineffect. Crawford was decent when he was spotting up in the corner. Just fucking leave him there to shoot threes and NEVER Iso him one-on-five again!

It was always Brandon bailing out Nate. For example, I recall there was a stat about how effective the Blazers were scoring out of time outs 'back in the day'. No shit. They just gave the ball to Brandon and got out of the way. It didn't take a genius to call that play.

The spacing was so bad it was laughable. Or it would have been had it not been my team. I watched a 10-year old girls basketball game last weekend with similar spacing. That's the only similar comparison that comes to mind.

Simply amazing how often those two FAIL to give Nico the ball in the right place at the right time. Even LaMarcus misses him sometimes when he's cutting baseline with a step on the defender. Ah! I have to go get my mind off this.
