A 'tiny' part? Those are the only two players on this team worth keeping (I love Crash, but he's trade bait at this point). Keep LMA and Nico and trade the entire supporting cast (including Nate) for D-Will, and back-fill the roster this summer in free agency and the lottery.
I guess I was referring to a strip down team of LMA and Batum that could really struggle if we didnt get D-Will. But I agree that if we are going to start over thats all I really would want to keep. And if we could get D-Will and keep LMA and Batum then Im on board 1000%. I just dont think its possible on a trade. And conversely I dont think that duo is attractive enough to lure him in free agency.
Aldridge's PER is 24.05, that suggests he's perfectly capable of being a Batman. Problem is, all championship teams need a great wing that handle the ball in the 4th. Because teams work much harder to deny Aldridge when the game is on the line. It's not LA's fault that he's a big man. Nic is the closest thing we have to that, because god knows Felton and Crawford aren't. Miller was an adequate filler last year though.
I disagree, Chris Bosh had great numbers while in Toronto but he is not Batman, he is Robin. Put Robin on a bad team without a real Batman and Robin will look at lot better but the mentality is not a consistent kill-the-other-guy-and-stuff-him-in-the-trash mentality which means, they are an intermittent Batman. Inconsistency in your Batman instincts means you are Robin. That is how I'm increasingly viewing Aldridge. Very talented yes. Batman, not so much. Gramps...
Bosh was stuck in the same position as Aldridge, very talented, but no lead wing to help him when it becomes much harder to get the ball. When was the last time a team made the finals, let alone with the title with only a good big? This team just isn't very talented, and it's not Aldridge's fault.
Geez, Clyde Drexler anyone? Aside from the fact that Hakeem is a lot better than LMA, who the hell on this team has even close to the ability the Glide had? Even at that age?
Point is, it's incredibly rare, and you need a once in a generation type player. Aldridge needs help, preferably from a wing. That was the whole reason for the argument.
I never argued against you. You just asked what big man lead his team to a Championship. Hakeem. He won a title before Clyde was there. He had Horry, Cassell, Kenny Smith, Vernon Maxwell, Chucky Brown, Carl Herrera and a bunch of Pete Chilcutt type scrubs on that team with him.
