Boozer is going to be watching the All-Star game, I'm afraid. But that doesn't matter. He just needs to be good enough to help us beat the Heat.
Probably 1, maybe 2, and possibly all 3 of Boozer, Deng, and Noah will play in the all-star game, but it'll depend on a lot of things. But I agree, if the reserves were picked today, Boozer would be watching.
EAST Howard Bosh James Wade Rose Reserves Garnett Smith Anthony Pierce Rondo Stodamire Granger Allen WHY ? Lockout. Fans. Recapture . End of Story Boozer was never going to make it for this reason and also for the fact that beyond the almightly per he just isnt good enough notwithstanding the fact that he is more often than not a good fit for this team during the regular season and softcock 1st and 2nd round opponents in the playoffs. Lakers shut him down out West too when it got to the business end
WEST Bynum Griffin Durant Bryant Paul Reserves Love Nowitski Gay Martin Westbrook Aldridge Wallace Lowry
Amare is having a mediocre season (for him). 17/8 and a 15.8 PER. Garnett is having a 13/7 season with a 17.9 PER. They are deservedly fan favorites and may well be the all-stars ahead of Boozer. Meanwhile, I ran across this: http://www.blogabull.com/2012/1/31/...-the-heat-are-better-booz-is-a-four?ref=yahoo The Bulls are 85-30 (73.9%) in 115 games Rose has played, dating back to the start of the 2010-11 season and through the playoffs, but only 11-12 (47.8%) when Rose has taken 25 or more shots. On the other hand, the Bulls are 31-8 (79.5%) when Boozer takes 15 or more shots. In only five of those 39, he scored less than 15 and the Bulls still won them all. You want to see the risk of Boozer not showing up, not establishing position, not using space to be Rose's easy button, or just putting himself in a position to be an option of any sort? Here it is.
Something similar came up on the RealGM board. Apparently we're undefeated when Boozer scores more than X amount of points. I forget what it is. I don't know that there's much insight to be gained from the statistic. Sometimes the team stagnates around Rose, and Boozer's our most efficient 2nd scoring option, so it makes sense that when he scores well it helps the team. We kind of knew that already, didn't we?
It seems to me he just needs the ball to be passed to him. He's a really good passer, which I think explains why we win even when he shoots a lot but doesn't score.
Boozer's PER is 20.4 today. He's 5th on the team in WS/48, behind Mike James, Rose, Butler, and Watson. Since James isn't on the team, he's 4th. Butler has played mostly garbage minutes (not lately, though). He's 2nd on the team in OWS. He's FIRST on the team in DWS (oddly enough). He's second on the team in DRtg, behind Asik. He's seventh in ORtg. According to 82games.com, he has a 20.4 PER at PF, opponents' PF has a 14.0 PER.
I see it at fool's gold. Boozer struggles to get his shot off against the better defensive teams in the league. We've seen this against Indiana, Philly and Miami in this shortened season. CBooz kills the Nets. That's somewhat helpful, I guess, but I'd like to be able to feel some security in the possibility that he will shop up against an elite team, and that hasn't happened. That's a good reason to keep him off the allstar team.
At this point, I don't think he makes it. If he'd played 36 MPG, he might though. His per 36 numbers are 18/10 with 1.3 steals.
