I find it hard to sympathize for those who make a great living off of mocking others. I thought Rush Limbaugh's drug addiction was karmic. I hope Colbert's family member is OK, but I could not care less about how any malady affects him personally.

Granted, you don't make a living off it, but you frequently mock others in your posts.

    Karma is watching.

Yes, that's the difference. Everybody on this board mocks others from time to time. Nobody does it for a living.

    :)

I suppose I may have been a bit harsh on Colbert and Limbaugh. They're mere jesters who make a lot of money demonizing people. They are a big part of the divisiveness in this country, though.

I don't think colbert ever mocks the misfortune of others. He tends to find hypocracy to mock. Or sometimes sheer ignorance/stupidity. I think he's not in because of an illness, which is something he would never mock. If you don't know, colbert breaks character on certain serious issues.

My "idiot" comment was just me "working", BTW, and mocking as everyone else does. For the record.

As for comparing Colbert and Limbaugh.... Yeah, Limbaugh is pretty much worthless. Colbert is a comedian. He's paid to make people laugh. He doesn't prance around like people should follow and respect him. Anyone looking for that or believing it would be truly ignorant. As westnob is saying, he doesn't look for a reason to mock people, he simply highlights a lot of political hypocrisy through comedy. If anyone takes him seriously or as gospel, that's their prerogative or idiocy.

I got it and thought it was funny. Subtle humor, yet topical and with an edge. Well done.

I don't think Colbert is even 1% as mean-spirited as Limbaugh. The comparison doesn't hold water.

Are you fucking kidding? Give me an example of Colbert doing something hurtful and mean-spirited.

    I'm waiting.

Colbert is back. He was with his 90+ year old mother. He'll probably say what was up on Monday's show.

IIRC Colbert is the youngest of like ten or twelve children so they probably have a good enough support network that he doesn't need to be off work for a long time (supposing she is in a bad way).
