Yeah, they have one of the best offenses in the League in Arenas, Jamison, Butler, etc..They just need post scoring and defense. Then they could be taken seriously as a top team in the East..
Thea raptors should be up about one slot but i see them and Atl fighting for the 8th playoffspot. hey toronto kid you said mo pete was a Sf yesterday and now you say he's a sg i told you i waqs right.pj tuck wont play Pf he's 6'5 he'll be a Sf and sg

He has no outside jumpshot. 80 percent of the time he will be playing pf. i guarantee it. He has a 7 foot wingspan which helps him....
i know he cant shoot be he can drive and post up there going to develop him into a three but being a PF in college is nothing like the nba we'll just says hes a forward he'll get tim at both slots so shut the F*ck up

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (ballerman2112 @ Jul 19 2006, 07:57 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I think its ridiculous to put Detroit at #8 after they just had the best record in the NBA last season. Sure, they lost Ben Wallace, but he is not as good as everybody thinks he is. They got Nazr Mohammad who was under utalized in SA. In the 2004-2005 playoff's he played great for the spurs grabbing them alot of boards(a ton of them on the offensive side). Nazr is better on offense than Ben Wallace and he can actually shoot free throws. They should be around #4 to me.How in the hell are the Magic 2nd to last? They have soon to be one of the best players in the league and a guard in Jameer Nelson who showed flashes of brilliance at times this year. Darko is improving and they just drafted a shooter in JJ. Sure, we dont know if he will be healthy but he can score the basketball. straight up. Im perdicing the Magic to make the playoffs.</div>I think #8 or #7 would be perfect for Detroit. I see at least 3 West teams, the Bulls and the Heat being better and you could make an argument for the Cavs, Nets and Clippers. The Pistons bench was terrible last year and even though Dupree helps it's still not very good. They lost one of the key parts of their team in Ben and without Larry their D wasn't as dominant as it used to be and now they lost their best guy and replaced him with Nazr. Wallace and McDyess are also getting pretty old. They won't be making much noise next season.

They lost a defensive monster who held back their offense from running. I honestly hope that they make it back to the finals because to me, that would not be a stretch. IMO, they are still going to be better than Chicago. Chemistry anybody?
The Chicago team has played together for a while. They just added a couple players that will get significant playing time. Some teams do drop from year to year. The Seattle Sonics, anybody?

I see it that you never watched a Raptor game when Vince was there.

I understand that losing Ben Wallace is a loss for them but its not as bad as everybody thinks it is. He was their defensive presence that blocked shots and got rebounds. You still have sheed in their who is a very good shot blocker and Nazr isnt a bad one either. Nazr can run the floor, finish on offense, get a TON of offensive rebounds(that is his niche IMO...im a spurs fan), and he can shoot free throws for a big man which will help them out alot. I still see Detroit being a #2 team in the east this year...
Good points, but in my opinion the highest I'd put them in the East is 3rd with them being 6th in the league depending on ho wthe rest of the off-season goes. I still don't expect them to do much in the playoffs with Flip Saunders and no Ben there. Rasheed better not forget how to play again if they want to return to the ECF.

Mostly everybody agrees that Miami will be #1 in the East. That is a given, they are the world champs and they deserve that respect. #2 is a tossup between Detroit and Chicago is what I am thinking. Considering they are both in the same division, one team will be a #4 seed and one team will be a #2 seed. Good so far? Now let me tell you why Detroit is going to get that #2 spot. People are saying that they have no bench. Did that stop them the year they made it to the finals or the year they WON the finals? no it didnt. They lost Big Ben. I already listed reasons why they will not be that bad off at the center position after losing him. Also, this gives more minutes to McDyess which could be useful considering he gels with the offense very nicely. Reasons why the Bulls will NOT get the #2 spot. They are overcrowded with young players. When Luol Deng is not starting on an active roster, you know that there is something wrong. Considering they need to find time for everybody to play, they would make more frequent substitutions which at the NBA level is not a good thing. The longer the players play, the better of a groove the players get in. They dont have a go to guy to down in the low block to score the basketball for them. This will hurt them.Detroit has experience, chemistry, and ALOT of talent and they should still be considered the 2nd best team in the east IMO.
Depth is NEVER a problem. If he is smart, Scott Skiles(ahh, sp???) should figure out a rotation of about 9 guys withing the first couple weeks of the season. The year the Pistons won the championship they had Ben and the best coach for a team, not a bad playoff coach who tried to make a defensive team an offensive team. I just don't like their team as much as the Bulls. Scoring could be a problem like some people said so it should be a very nice 2nd round match-up if it gets there.

He plays an inside game, not an outside game. I think he can play SG, SF, and a little bit of PF..

He is not going to play SG in the NBA even though he is only 6 5. I dont think it matters that he is now in the NBA. He doesnt need to change positions because he was most affective playing the PF position in college. He could also play SF but he would be playing more like a PF.

Teams who have gotten better during this off season still wont make the playoffs in my mind. Toronto, Boston (only if they get AI), Atlanta, Milwaukee, Philly, New York, and Charlotte are not going to the playoffs. Some may improve, but its going to be very tight at the bottom seeds. We'll still make the playoffs...and we're getting a lot of depth for our bench this off season so I expect us to get somewhat deep into the playoffs. I think Pecherov will come back, he had some good games in the summer league and just because we got Songaila doesnt mean he's on his way to Europe. So what if we dont have an inside presence? The Suns got to WCF this past year and they had no Amare, no Kurt Thomas. Their offense was so guard-dominated that Tim Thomas and Boris Diaw were some of their tallest players that made some sort of impact during the playoffs without contributing in the paint. Dallas didnt even have an inside presence and they made the Finals..whats the big deal?

I agree, we dont have good defense. But hey, your Wizards dont either. We dont neccisarily need defense to make the playoffs. I think we'll be on the bubble, but with the way the East is looking, it is definately not out of the question for us to make the playoffs.
why is Cleveland not getting any respect? people are saying it's between Detroit and Chicago for the Central division title, but i think Cleveland is very much in the mix. LeBron is going to have a heel of a year, we all know that, Larry Hughes should actually be healthy, the only problem i see is that they might not get Gooden back.
i bet you the knicks hav a better record then the raps larry brown never had a solid rotation and he wouldnt play there best players together they will be in the playoffs in my mind they do need to make some major moves tho but there roster talent is better then there 23 wins showed
