Yeah I was laughed at when I wanted him. I guess Feltons value dropped big time.

I've never been opposed to Calderon. He's a competent shooter that will open things up inside for Aldridge. He's also a great playmaker. He's just a garbage defender, though. But, we can have Nic guard the quick athletic PG's so it doesn't bother me as much.

While Felton has sucked, it's been too long since we've had a PG who wasn't a liability on defense. Would be hard pressed to Trade Felton for another defensive liability.

The problem with Calderon is that he makes 10.6 mil next year, and will eat up nearly half our capspace.

    No thank you.

    Calderon isn't a game killer.

There is lots of problems with Calderon. And they are the same ones he had 3-4 years ago when everyone on this board was drooling over getting him. But this worries me: " Has lost some athleticism and hurts his team defensively now"

It's February, I assume we are talking about Ramone Sessions again too? At least he comes cheap.

There are oh so many reasons I don't want Calderon on this team. First and foremost is he kills half our capspace this summer... screw that. Ride Felton out hope he gets better if not oh well he is off the books as the end of the year. No reason to sacrifice the future to try and salvage this year.

See the pics of his woman in the OT section? That's enough street cred to last a lifetime on this hell hole of a message board.

He's definitly a better option than Felton... or Crawford at PG.

    But is he worth it?

I like the idea of Calderon for the short term, but yeah, that's a pretty good point about cap space. Seems like a guy we could trade for right now if we wanted him, so I'm assuming (hoping?) there are bigger fish Blazer management is looking to fry.

Tough one. Who else is out there this summer?

I get the idea of letting Felton walk and having cap space, but then you also need a point guard and do Blazers end up using cap space on a point guard? Calderon for 2 years, that fits LA's time schedule. But 10 mil per year is steep . . . and his defense is weak.

Almost no one we either can get or is worth getting. Augustine is restricted and I'll bet it'll take at least 5-6 million to get him.

I guess I'm nearly alone on this, but I don't see $10M as exorbitant for a true point guard who is one of the best shooters in this league. Yeah, he would "eat into our cap space"--but isn't the purpose of cap space to bring in good players? Does it really matter if we trade for them or sign them as FA's as long as they're here?
