Miss Japan, whoever that is, will be a guest Octagon girl. I suppose in place of Chandella?

Maria Kamiyama is Miss Universe Japan. I don't know if they have their own Miss America-style pageant, so this might not be the one Dana White is referencing.

Rumours floating that Rampage will retire after this fight.

Frank Edgar and Takeya Mizugaki... keep in mind Edgar fights at 155lbs. and Mizugaki at 135lbs.

Edgar is a tough mofo for fighting at 155 at his size.

    Re: UFC 144: Japan/Edgar vs. Henderson (Feb/25)

Jake Shields, perhaps jealous of the attention Akiyama is getting in Japan over him, or otherwise, has spoken out against 'cheater' Akiyama and his dastardly past. Akiyama famously greased prior to his bout with Sakuraba, resulting in the bout being ruled a no-contest, and has been accused of using slippery Gi's in the past in judo competitions.

Shields, if recall, thumbed and poked Georges St-Pierre's eye until it was purple with illegal open-handed jabs when they fought at UFC 129.

Seems like a tactical move to ensure that Shields' grappling isn't negated. Bringing attention to this before the fight starts.

Rampage badly missed weight (211) and will forfeit 20% of his purse to Bader, who has allowed the fight to go on.

Everyone else was on weight. Mark Hunt has ballooned back up to 270+ (weighed-in at 264). Bad sign.

    Re: UFC 144: Japan/Edgar vs. Henderson (Feb/25)

Agreed with the judges tonight. Six of twelve went to decision and they were made correctly.

Bendo did a great job and is a deserving champion. Fought well. Edgar's game-plan was nonexistent. Should've been more aggressive. Bendo will probably fight Pettis next which should be another classic. Dunno what's next for Edgar--dropping weight might be premature seeing as how he is still a top-2 LW.

Jackson didn't look 100%. He said before the fight that an injury prevented him from running, which is a major contributor to him missing weight. Suggests that he had a lower body injury, likely the same knee that he's been struggling with since before the Evans fight. He left the Octagon after the decision was read out so if he was planning on retiring with a win, maybe he won't on a loss. Disappointed for him. Bader has set himself up for an opponent like Rua or Machida--will be interesting to see what the UFC does with him next.

Tamura's knockout of Zhang was nasty, if you got to see it.

Mizugaki got paid his win bonus. DW doesn't agree with the decision.

The $65,000 bonuses went to Pettis, Lee, and Bendo/Edgar.

I didn't order the fights for the first time in forever, so I missed the card...

Is Edgar going to get an immediate rematch? DFW said he thought Edgar won the fight as well as Joe Silva. Benson has said that he thinks a rematch with Pettis should wait. I agree with Henderson here...Pettis just lost to Guida before winning that fight...a highlight KO doesn't make you the #1 contender. I think both Nate Diaz and Jim Miller are above him in line for a title shot. I think the winner of that fight should get a title shot if Edgar doesn't get the rematch. Maybe give Pettis a fight with Edgar or Maynard?

I heard Rampage looked horrible but had an awesome slam. You have to give it to him for coming to fight even though his doctor told him not to. I believe him about the injury, he's never missed weight before in his career, so you have to give him the benefit of the doubt. Is this the end of the line for Rampage? Seems like another superstar of MMA has been a victim of his age and the changing MMA scene.

You missed a great card Mamba. Tim Boetsch fight was NUTS, me and my boys were going ape shit when he won, dunno how that one didn't get a post-fight bonus.

I was about to post the same thing about Pettis though, all of a sudden hes #1 contender because he got a nasty KO (or is it because people want to see him fight Bendo again)? I thought Diaz-Miller was going to be a title eliminator.

Really wish I put money on Bader-Rampage. I don't know anything about the injuries leading up to the fight but Rampage is just done. Over the hill and the fire doesn't seem like its still there. Sad to see him and Forrest Griffin going through the motions.

I really wanted to lay some major $$$ on a parlay on Boetsch and that fucker who beat Kid, but didn't have the cajones to pull the trigger. Hating myself right now.

I don't feel that Edgar/Henderson was so close as to warrant a rematch. The Bendo/Pettis rematch is more interesting. However Bendo/Diaz would be good, too.

I'm ready for Bendo vs the winner of Miller/Diaz. We're coming off of Edgar-Penn, Edgar-Penn, Edgar-Maynard 2, and Edgar-Maynard 3 for the LW belt. Its a loaded division with a lot of guys who could warrant title shots. While Henderson's fights with Pettis and Edgar were great, I'm satisfied with the decisions. Get some new fugging fights going and start giving some other guys their chances. With another win Pettis will be the top contender after Miller/Diaz anyway.

I think Miller/Diaz needs to be a title eliminator. I hope Diaz pulls that out.

Pettis and Edgar should fight. With the speed of those two, don't blink.

Does anyone want to see Jim Miller fight for the title?

Not that I have anything against him but Diaz or Pettis make a much more compelling match-up.

I've noticed Palmer doesn't travel to the foreign shows all the time.
