Having visited BC many dozens of times in my life I've always been warmly welcomed to Canada and basically waved through after answering a few simple questions exactly as these folks did. The nicest people I've ever briefly met. Every time I leave I know I'll visit again. Coming back into my own country has brought me this type of pompous, egomaniacal mistreatment from people whose salary I pay on several of my visits, going all the way back to the early 70's the excuse for abuse was drugs rather than terrorists. I've been detained for hours, heard the same absurd bullshit from neanderthals for no apparent reason, had my car doors and seats ripped out and thrown onto the pavement, heard the same childish threats, held my laughter during the painfully amatuer attempts to intimidate me, been threatened with violence, and even brought before a federal judge who was brought on sight for the day after CSNY held a reunion concert in Vancouver on a day where thousands of Americans got the same pointless abuse. Ironically, that judge was the only American I've ever encountered at the border who exhibited intelligence, a basic understanding of the law, and was polite and respectful toward me. And apologetic. The incident in the OP was very clearly contrived and manipulated by the border agent, him being the unecessary antagonist from the very beginning and it's sad that only retards and mentally-deranged people want these well-paying jobs. Or maybe that's the criteria to get hired? If you are going to represent my country and charge me money for it every day of my life, you could at least exhibit some manners and try not to alienate the world. I'm dead serious about securing our borders and preventing smuggling of anything across the border, but buffoons like this don't prevent that, they enable it. These guys should be fired before they create an international incident.
