I just kinda realized we are not only building for now but for the futureI mean once Dirk and Jet are retired we will have a Josh Howard and Devin Harris and Diop in their primeNot to mention a Maurice Ager who will be getting tons of minutes once Stack is goneJust look in 7 years our line up could beDiop - PrimeJ-Po/Pops (please sign him)Josh Howard - PrimeMo Ager - Going into his prime like Dirk is right now (Dirk will be going into his prime THIS season)Devin Harris - PrimeThats a scary looking team on D and has a good amount of offense to get by. Not exactly title contenders but with a few more pieces we'd be one againJust thought that was interesting

I hope you realize Howard is older then he is. I believe Dirk is 28 and Howard is already 26. Are you telling me Dirk will retire in a couple years along with Jet? I don't think so. Dirk's in his prime now and still young. So is Jet really, and in 7 years, Howard will be 33. Past his prime most likely. I'll give you Diop, Harris, and possibly Ager. But that's about it for youth movement. Benga/Pavel are questionable still, if we sign Pops, Powell will not be on the roster. So were definately building for now, the next 2-3 years, maybe 4 are our chances for a ring. The thing you should be happy about is Cubes is planning ahead financially, so when Dirk/Howard are possibly up contract wise, we'll be under the cap.

Howard stayed at Wake for all 4 years i do believe so yeah he is older than you would have thought.....but Diop in his prime wont be that great.....he will be an average center at best in his prime. If the mavs hold on to devin harris which will be hard IMO, he will be a very good player. He could be starting on some teams in the league and he knows that so i wouldnt be surprised if he left to go somewhere else once his contract is up.

Because Harris did start in his rookie year, and Terry had zero problem coming off the bench. Also, considering Harris can start alongside Terry as well, I see no problem with him leaving because he's not getting minutes or starting. Also, why we wouldn't we just extend him before his contract is up?

Yeah, Diop will be okay, but I don't think he'll ever be insanely amazing. He probably won't even be around for 7 more years (many centers don't last that long, think about it). Josh won't last long past Dirk and Terry. Ager could be pretty great, but he could also be a "bust." He wasn't even picked that highly in the draft, obviously. Although of course, he does have JHo and Marquis to live up to, so yeah. I think there's definitely some chance for the future, but we're definitely going for things now. If anything, you gotta be happy we will have some room for free agents in the future.

I totally disagree. I think Diop will be a Ben Wallace type of player that when he gets stronger he will be able to hold his position better and be a bigger force on defense. Hopefully he starts getting respect from the refs so he can stay on the court. I think Devin Harris is our main guy for the future. He is already a good player but has a huge upside.

^I actually hope your wrong there...as Big Ben was an offensive liability, and I hope Diop becomes better on that side of the court.I do think he'll be valuable for the next 4-5 years.
