Hmmm.... I know quite a few Gallo guys, most of which are working for our various distributors that we have (and we have at least 1 distributor in every state, and as many as 4 in some states), but I'm racking my brain on JP - does he work in Oregon? In addition to the ones I actually know, there are a lot that I know of, but in my working, I don't come into direct contact with, but there's a good chance my boss would know him (as he knows about everyone in the wine industry in the Northwest).

I loved the wine biz, at least the people I met in it. I didn't love the pay structure (at least at Gallo) and the holiday season. I've always been a guy who liked to shut things down between XMas and New Years, yet I literally was working 11-hour days during the holiday season just to try and make a $2k holiday bonus, or a trip to Vegas. Or, I'd have to visit my stores on the 4th of July to merchandise my 64-case Bartles and James display that I sold into some Safeway or Bi-Mart.

I hear ya. I see my salespeople out there busting ass. I mean, some weeks, they just kick it around their houses, send a few emails here and there, and relax. But some weeks, they're traveling and on the clock 24/7. Very flexible hours and create your own pace, but I couldn't handle it. I am happy on the financial side. My time is still flexible, but it's steady, I have minimal travel, and nobody else in the company has much financial and accounting experience, especially within the industry, so I just get to do my thing. It is a rad industry to be a part of, and as far as the benefits of being in the industry, I can't say one bad thing (and I'm happy with my compensation too).

Were you living in Oregon when you worked for Gallo? Did you get those big jugs of Gallo wine for free? I love those when I see them at the store (though, the wine itself does not interest me, no offense).

    Easy, but ridiculous.

Exactly what "college record" proves where a person was born? :dunno:

Depending on which state you're born in there's a birth certificate, or certificate of live birth. He released that. He was born in Hawaii, after it became a state.

That makes him a Native American, like myself, and maaaaaaaaaaaybe you.

    End of story.

    Why haven't YOU posted yours?

Seems easy enough to do, doesn't it? :devilwink:

I had to "post" my birth certificate numerous times in my life.

I even had to release my college transcripts to get jobs.

I think the birther stuff is nonsense, as I posted.

What are you babbling about now? Dipping in early today to some of that central Oregon Juniper Gin?

The larger question is, I guess, do you believe everything you hear? Or do you intentionally spread misinformation?
As Maris pointed out, this is just another hoax.

Bush, Kerry, Gore: I think all of their transcripts were leaked to the press, rather than released by the candidate.
Clinton, McCain: I don't think their transcripts are available... feel free to prove me wrong by posting them.

Thats twice in two days you've insinuated I was a lush.

FYI, I drink maybe 10-20 beers total (summertime) and a glass or 2 of wine 4 or 5 times a year. I don't drink hard liquor at all.

When I lived in the Portland area I knew a guy who "worked for Gallo".

He lived down by the tracks and would do yardwork, wash my car, pick up the dogshit, all for a bottle of Thunderbird. :biglaugh:

Very interesting article. Thanks for correcting Papa's usual inaccuracies, Maris. He also needs to be set straight on his incomprehensible graphic which miserably fails to cover up Bush's military record.

As close as I'm going to that is posting this guy's pix since 6 times in the last 2 years I have been stopped by strangers in stores who asked me "Do you know you look just like Eric Clapton?".

About the 4th time it happened my wife was with me and she got a laugh out of it.

The last time it happened was like the 2nd time in that month and I kind of chuckled out loud and said "My wife doesn't think so". He started to walk away, turned back around and asked "You AREN'T, are you?

    Well, I'm not Eric Clapton.

But I am a little better looking than him, and have led a far more charmed life.

And I could hold my own in a blues jam with him.

I never commented on the accuracy of the transcripts, other than we've never seen them.

Maris' pic is available on his real estate website. Red cheeks, bulbous nose, the usual you'd expect from a vampire sucking out people's money in central Oregon.
