In my opinion, the American League Rookie of the Year will also win the Cy Young. The two candidates are Jonathan Papelbon and Francisco Liriano. The stats areapelbon: 2-1, 29 saves, .54 ERA, .72 WHIP, 50 Ks in 50 IPLiriano: 11-2, 1.94 ERA, .95 WHIP, 115 Ks in 102 IPWho do you think deserves it?
Liriano. Since he got into the starting rotation the twins have started to play pretty darn good. Wont 18 out of 19 before the break and now they are on a 7 game win streak again with the help of him. He may be what they need to compete i n the AL Central. If the white sox and yankees slide the twins can probally ge tthe wildcard and LIriano will be the guy to get them there. Dont forget about Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau though who have been a big part of the team as well.Go Twins!
One person won't win both. One will take the Cy Young and that'll be Liriano since it's mostly starters that win that award and Papelbon wins rookie of the year. He is having and incredible season.
Damn, I think Papelbon deserves it. Who was the last active Closer, or any pitcher for that manner to have an ERA of .54?He has just been dominate, and I think he deserves the award, even if Closer's rarely recieve the award..
