The comments, of course, have been overwhelmingly pro-GW.

I saw that too. GW isn't the reason for the teams struggles. I can think of some other expiring contracts that should go. Joel is a keeper for his veteran presence and wasn't that expensive to pick up.

Hmmm.... I really like GW. He was a guy that I really wanted on this team, but I just don't know. He's not a young guy anymore, and I'm not sure how he would fit into our plans longterm. What moves could be made this season and next summer that would include him which would make us a contender?

I wonder if this means that he won't opt out this summer? That would significantly affect the Blazers cap space.

trade or not you have to expect that he will be opting in at this point.

All the more reason to trade him IMO. Because for the Blazers to have any shot at improving this off season, he needs to opt out. If there is a chance he stays, we get screwed. Uprooting your family is the price you pay for making millions playing a game. I love his hustle, but he is not a good fit here long term. See ya.

I loved Gerald's energy, scrap, and aggressiveness, he was good on both ends of the floor, and used to really attack the hoop. What more can you ask for? He seems to have really lost his mojo this year though, he's just not the same.

IMO Gerald is probably the one guy I want traded most because he could opt in and frankly I don't want him here next yr at 11.5 mil. Gerald seems a good guy but his play overall has been lousy, he shoots bricks and has missed lots of layups, don't know what has happened (maybe age, maybe something else) but I want him gone

Wallace needs to play for a team that runs more. He's painful to watch in a slow-down game.

He IS the problem, or at least part of it, at least since the beginning of the season when, no coincidence, we actually WERE running.

To me it seems like it coincided with his broken finger (or whatevery he did to it) That first game after it happened he tried to protect it. He stopped dunking as much and started laying the ball up amd missing a lot of those lay ups.

More running is not the issue. He needs to finish like he was before. Seems like a mental thing. He has just not been the same player since.

i dunno, even before the broken finger, he was missing close shots at a pretty bad rate, it seemed.

We're now tied for 10th in pace, so the trend has been a steady downward regression to Nate McMillan's mean and the correlation is fewer wins and less effectiveness from Wallace. Certainly GW looks to have lost some of his explosiveness (lots of below the rim layins and not so many dunks) but more than anything I think he just looks lost out there half the time and now it's been long enough where it's probably gotten into his head and affected his confidence.

I feel badly for Gerald (if that really is his facebook page) but you get the feeling this team is entering an overhaul and unfortunately the timeline that comes with that isn't going to coincide very well with Gerald's -- because of money, fit, and his age.

You know that's not actually his facebook right? I liked the Wallace, Matthews and Aldridge pages and they all post status updates right after each other. The same person or source does all three, and I highly doubt it's actually the players.

Yeah, funny how all 3 of those accounts never have anything beyond a one sentence update.
