“We could come back and definitely be way below .500,” Aldridge said. “I think guys know that this road trip is big for us.” I'm not sure Lamarcus has a leadership attitude. If you go into the road trip thinking your coming out under five hundred thats exactly what is going to happen. We need a confident leader. Someone with some guts and leadership because I'm not sure LA can do it.
Here's a quote you might like better. From Wesley Matthews: "I have a good feeling about this road trip. Just what's against us: We haven't played well on the road. We are not expected to win. People are writing us off. We are not in the playoffs right now if the playoffs were to start. People are saying, 'Ah this needs to happen with this team, that needs to happen with that team.' "Cool, let's just get away from it, remove ourselves and let's just ball," Matthews said. "What do we have to lose? You know? We are written off anyway. What do we got to lose, so let's just go out there and have fun and take care of business, and shoot, mess around and come back 7-0." http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/i...sider_portland_happy_to_start_seven-game.html
Talk is cheap. Time to prove to us fans and the world that you are better than your record shows. Either come out with a win streak, .500 on the trip or below .500. Ita expected the later and anything from .500 and up would be a success.
I don't think you really read that quote properly. He said that it was a definite possibility that they could be well under .500 after the road trip and therefore it's a big road trip. If he believed it was definite that they'd be under .500, he wouldn't consider it an important road trip. It's a standard "guys have to step up to save our season" quote, neither incredible leadership nor lack of it.
He's saying he and the team know they have to bring it and win games during a very tough road trip. Nothing to see here.
