He's had a bit of sophomore slump and his minutes have been very inconsistent. Last year as a rookie he showed he could be a very serviceable center. His DRtg, though in less than 20 MPG in each of his seasons, has been surprisingly good: 95 and 93. Given consistent minutes and a defined role I think he could be a Joel Przybilla type of signing. Back then Joel was in a similar situation with minutes. I have been pushing for him is various trade scenarios as Bulls ned an SG (I'd trade Wes BTW if we needed that to het it done), he's availabe IMO and can only be offered 5 mil or so per yr but contract could be front loaded and CHI will probably not match. Spencer Hawes is another guy I like and would be a very good match to play with LMA.
He does remind me of Joel a bit. Considering what options we have (none), I'd say give it a go. We have Crawful and Matthews for da Bulls to choose from.
All the rumors around have been that they don't want to trade him. They can't keep him in the off season unless he takes less then the market but they want to keep him for the playoffs this year. To bad we didn't trade Rudy for him last year when we had the chance.
The bulls had much better offers than Rudy for Omer last season. There's not a chance in hell they'd have traded him for Rudy. The Blazers drafted him and traded him to the Bulls in a 3-way trade for 3x 2nd round picks.

As someone who's been pushing for this for a while, I have to say that I can't see the Bulls doing it, if only because they're very thin at C. Maybe if we threw in the rights to Freeland. In other Bulls news: I just saw that Thibodeau is a free agent at the end of this year... Could Paul Allen offer him Phil Jackson money? Would the Bulls break the bank to keep him?
You can't see the Bulls doing what exactly? he's a free agent. I wouldn't mind him, though his offense is......nonexistent? I'm really tired of playing 4 on 5 on the offensive end of the floor, and wehave been doing it forever it seems. Would be nice to have even a slightly competent offensive player at C. It's better than some alternatives for sure, and he is a very good defender.

Talking of "solutions at center"... What about Amare? The Knicks would LOVE to offload him. Could he work next to LaMarcus? Would he and Felton recover their form of the beginning of last season?
The Bulls offered James Johnson for Rudy. Maybe the Blazers tried to pry a pick from the Bulls and were turned down. The Bulls wouldn't trade Asik for OJ Mayo, which I think is a much better deal and would have given the Bulls a PG/SG tandem that's young and uber talented. The Bulls already have Ronnie Brewer to be backup SG (and SF) and Kyle Korver to be the designated 3pt shooter. Rudy just wasn't even worth considering dealing Asik. The Bulls were also happy to give Asik backup C minutes and develop him. Plus they had both Boozer and Noah missing many games with injury.
I ment the start of last season when your starting SG was Keith Bogans. That was just the Rumor. My question is what do you think the Bulls will match for Asik this off season? Boozer is in the decline I'm wondering if they match whatever is offered pretty much and Amnesty Boozer when the Lux tax gets to high.
Taj Gibson is RFA, too. I think they match both, whatever is offered by another team. They'll try to reach a deal on their own, too. The only trade rumor I could find for Asik, and that was a proposed deal by some "pundit" or message board poster, was one that had Portland sending 3 players including Batum, for Asik and filler. I'm pretty sure the Bulls wouldn't do Asik for Batum straight up. No offense to Batum, but they really like Asik. Boozer's fine, IMO. He's doing what the coach asks for as best he can. His PER has been over 20 most of the season, and is at 19.5. He's putting up 16/8 in a much more limited role with the Bulls. But look at their record - something they're doing is working.

Heh. Like I said, everything I read was it was Bulls' #1 pick Johnson plus maybe a 2nd round pick for Rudy. Both guys ended up getting traded in separate deals.
I would have done that deal in a heartbeat! Great for the blazers! They could grab another up and coming bench warmer!
