I think trading for a big star like Dwill and hoping he re-signs with us is a huge gamble. Especially since we don't look too appealing right now. But I think it's a legit strategy. I would send feelers out to Dwill's camp about how he feels about Portland. Of course, I doubt Dwill is going anywhere, but it is a legit rebuilding idea. Roll the dice, if it doesn't work, go back to the lottery and start over.

Yeah--the problem with being a small market is you have to take huge gambles in order to be successful. High risk/high reward moves are the only way we will ever have a shot at a title.

But what a lovely little rental that would make. At this point, I'm ok with just being a scary little match up in the first round.

Fire Nate and make D Will player/coach for life!

Giving up Batum for a rental. Hard to Believe our MGMT could get him to stay.

Nets have 2 first round picks in 2012 NBA Draft. One of the picks is lottery protected. Blazers could move Crawford for one of the picks.

Oh dear. So many people are going to be so disappointed. Which is amazing: how could you be a Trail Blazers fan at this point and still have it left in you to be disappointed?

Ahhhh okay, I get it... Sorry my bad, but I think it's worth the risk. If D Will and D12 can't be paired up, pairing himself with Aldridge ain't half bad, IMO.

Two names to watch for the Nets are Jamal Crawford and Gerald Wallace.

And it's reported that the Nets turned down D Will for Gasol. Jamal Crawford and Wallace? Are they better than Gasol?

Those two would be much better next to DWill as well. So this is more likely:

I know it's just a crazy dream, but somehow landing Williams (at the obvious risk of just being a rental) might perk up Allen and get him interested in spending again.

The very real possibility of contending might entice Williams to re-sign.

Huge risk, but what do the Blazers have to lose? The future? The future is now.

    How soon is now?

That would be a sexy turn around for this team, but lets not get our hopes up.

    Stop it...

POR is not going to get D.Williams....

NJ is looking to ADD pieces to Williams, so POR needs to offer Crawford AND Wallace to NJ for a package, with the main goal of getting those 2 1st round picks.....

Wallace & Crawford to NJ for Farmar, Humphries and 2 2012 picks....NJ pick (top 10 likely) and Housten's pick (top 14 protected but HOU likely makes playoffs, so pick in the teens)....

That could potentially give POR 3 picks in the top 20 in a strong draft....with 1, maybe even 2 of them being top 10 picks...

You add that to Aldridge, Batum, E-Will, possibly Freeland & Claver...bring Przybilla back...not so bad...and Farmar and Humphries are both fairly young...

To be honest I think getting both those picks would be pretty tough as well. Farmar and Humphreys are almost equal to Wallace and Crawford as it is. NJ would never give up both picks for two players who can opt out after this season. They could ruin their whole future.
