I didn't think Doonesbury was a political comic. That's about as pointed as it gets (no subtext at all), especially the second one. I would not care to see it along side the Wizard of Id or Garfield. I have no problem with it in other sections of the newspaper though.

Doonesbury has been political in the past. Obviously, forcing a probe into a woman's vagina against her will is OK, and making her pay $400-700 for the privilege is great, and handing a doctor a script he/she must read to a woman even if it's factually false is just fine. But satirizing all that? Unacceptable!

Did I miss something? Was this a comment about my comment or a general one? Who said anything about forcing a woman to have an abortion? And it is a medical procedure, who should be the one that pays for it? If it was directed at my comment, all I said was that the comic didn't belong next to the others especially when the word "slut" is used. I have no problem with the comic being in another part of the newspaper (say the political section) even though i personally think it's a little over the top. No one but the crazies call women sluts for going to a clinic for contraception.

Thanks for illustrating my point. Limbaugh IS crazy (more so now than ever). He's using over-the-top inflammatory words to argue a point that's in no way helpful to the debate. He's either crazy or incapable of rational thought or incapable of rational contribution to the debate. Any way you look at it, your citation merely proves what I said.

I admit that I didn't connect that the comic was based on Limbaugh's statements. I think that makes it more satirical, but I still don't think a comic with the words "slut" in it has a place with the rest of the comics that children read, which is all I said in my original post and why I agree with the Oregonian's decision not to publish it. I guess Rush isn't alone in preferring to make wild accusations and sarcastic comments about ancillary remarks then address the main issue...

Limbaugh is laughing all the way to the bank. Both sides benefit from pointing out the bad behavior of the other side. Anyone who pays attention to those silly games is getting played by both the right and left wing.

Agreed. People like Limbaugh on both the left and right are nothing more than entertainers.

Maybe not for long. 98 advertisers have asked for their commercials to not be played during his show.
