You think first priority is D. Will and second is Nash?

D Will is the obvious choice because of his age and future, but the option of Nash is intriguing.

I suspect Nash will require a 10 mil per for the next 3 years to get er done. If we have close to 30 mil available, there is a good chance that Nash, 20 more mil, two good first rounders and a core of Aldridge, Matthews, Batum and Willaims looks very good for other free-agents.

If we don't get D. Will, I suspect we offer Nash a deal.

    What are your thoughts?

There is no first priority until we know what we have after the draft.

I really do not see giving Nash half our cap space at this point.

Is Freedland still an option next year? Or is his buyout too much?

Nash would be the worst possible guy to tie up money in. His age doesn't fit at all with the path that the team has just embarked on.

It would be half. It would be a third. We would still be able to offer a max and a max mle type contract after that signing.

Unless of course we get a younger pg and we use Nash until the new one is good enough to take over?

So you come up with 30 million under the cap after Batum is signed and the first round picks?

Ahhh I see. Yeah your right my mistake. 10 for Batum is very likely, but 5 mil was factored on our cap space because of Batum's cap hold. Wouldn't that mean if Batum signs for 10, then it's only 5 more mil?

I'm really confused. We just traded Camby's expiring contract for 10 or 11 million bucks of roster deadwood. Where is this cap space coming from?

Not sure. But I would not be bummed if we ended up with 2 lotto picks, Eric Gordon, and Joel Freedland to go along with Batum and LMA.

Those damn PG's are the tough ones.

You are confused. Both Flynn and Thabeet expire at the end of the season.

    Kendall Marshall.

Have a feeling his draft stock is going to shoot up after the tourney.

#1 -- Hire Donnie Nelson as GM

    #2 -- Hire Mike D'Antoni

    #3 -- Re-Sign Nicolas Batum -- or s&t him on draft night.

#4 -- Hope for some luck in the lotto -- Take Anthony Davis! [/pipedream]

#5 -- Build this roster around D'Antoni's system. This is what NY didn't do.

#6 -- Trade for a young-ish vet PG (Augustin, Rondo, etc.)

    #7 -- Sign Joel Freeland

#8 -- Nobody should be untouchable on this roster. Keep that in mind as you build this roster.

Is it possible to sign two big FAs, and then re-sign Batum after and go over the cap?

I just don't think Nash will be an option for this team going forward- he's going to be too old once this rebuilding process is over (hopefully less than 3 years) with the potential high draft picks taking a few years to mature and come into their own.

I wouldn't have been surprised if the Blazers had been playing .600 ball all season up to this point that they would have tried everything possible to obtain Nash, but that ship has sailed at this point.

Yes if we can do the first two before we sign Batum. Remember that we will have two first rounders that are guaranteed money. Depending on the draft position will determin how much we have to pay.
