I'm very interested in getting a point guard in this draft, though most are projected to go much later in the 1st round than where we'd be. Tony Wroten is another guy of interest that some compare to Russell Westbrook. I'd like to know more about Tony.
Not if a take makes him an offer right out of free agency The Blazers could very well eat their own cap space by being forced to match Batum (assuming they want to keep them) before they have a chance to sign other free agents.
Wroten won't get a chance to prove himself in the tournament this year- might be able to snag him later than what he would have gone at. He's looked great the few times I've watched him- minus those FT's against the Beav's late.
The Blazers are projected to be about 25 million under the cap if Crawford doesn't exercise his option. Assuming Batum gets a 10 million-ish offer we should still have space for one max level guy (or whatever).
1) Hire a GM 2) Draft Lottery results 3) Interview coaches 4) Draft Day Magic 5) Hire coach 6) Free Agency - Make MAX offer to Deron Williams (the only free agent worth the MAX). 6b) have a plan B for when Deron politely declines. 7) Re-sign Batum. 8) Quick re-build is well underway.
Pretty sure a team has something like 2 weeks to match an offer, so even if someone offered Nic big money right off the bat, we hsould still have plenty of time to sign one or two other big free agents before matching.
Hey, if Flynn can do anything and the Blazers have use for him then so be it. I don't put the odds very high, but he's a pick and roll player who had great quicks at Syracuse ... maybe he can get something going?
This is genuinely, fucking exciting. Haven't felt this way about the Blazers in a long time. So many ways we can build the team.
