Let's not add combo pf/c. I'm curious the order of the top 5 centers in the league. 1.) Howard 2.) Bynum (closer to Howard than you think if he didn't have injury questions) 3.) hibbert? I really don't think this is confident pick. 4.) Noah - he seems a little small, but he plays well over his height. 5.) nene - he's big and can score and rebound. You know looking at the center pool, it's fucking weak as hell after these players. I guess bogut is up there, maybe Perkins I guess.
I'd go Howard Bynum Chandler Gasol Hibbert (Bogut if healthy) Edit: Well hell, Monroe has been playing out of his mind this year too. He is probably 6 even with a healthy Bogut.
I think of Monroe as an Al Jefferson type. Nice numbers but no presence on defense, not a guy you can build and win around, and perhaps really a 4 playing at the 5. Nikola Pekovic has to start being in this conversation. For me: 1) Dwight 2) Bynum 3) Chandler 4) M. Gasol 5) Noah Really hard to pick the 5th.
Obviously Horford would be 3-4 if you considered him a C, I think of him as more of a PF playing out of position though
Gortat might also be in the conversation. Obviously Nash is making him look good but hes also showing off a lot of skill this year. Probably not top 5 but hes worth mentioning.
DeAndre Jordan is probably top 10 due to his defense, but he still sucks on offense. I thought he'd pick up the scoring this season with Chris Paul setting him up for some easy baskets, but his scoring is actually down. Spencer Hawes isn't top 5, but he gets overlooked due to the softness of his game and is probably top 10. He's having a nice season for the 76es. His PER = 19.2, he's a good passer and efficient scorer. Damn, the center position really is weak these days. Depending on where the Blazers draft, they may be best served taking one of the many highly rated power forwards and moving Aldridge to center. In any case, give that our best two players (Aldridge, 4 or 5; Batum, 3 or 2) can play multiple positions, I hope the Blazers use their two first round picks on the best players available, regardless of position. Get the most talent you can and figure out how to use is. Fill out the rest of the rotation using the cap space to sign free agents (possibly including Freeland) or work an unbalanced trade. BNM
Hoping for my W's sake Bogut proves to be healthy and top 5. His came is comparable to Gasol, probably more some more defense and a little less offense. Would be stoked if hes Gasol/Noah level.
Exactly. And even if there is some overlap and mismatching pieces you can always trade those pieces as long as they hold their value. You start the long slide into mediocrity when you start thinking that you need to fill a specific need on your roster via the draft and letting that trump taking a superior talent.
