niners could beat seattle next year with or without manning, but peyton going to sf makes the most sense out of all the options from the get go. even if gore gets hurt you have kendall hunter there, who is a more than capable backup and if we've learned anything through the years it's that RB's are mostly interchangable. sf is fringe sb team w/o manning, with him they become one of the favorites to win it all (provided he can stay healthy).
looks like it's denver ... http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7...yton-manning-picks-denver-broncos-sources-say still think san fran was the better choice.
Funny to think where Tebow goes might be a bigger story. I know the Jacksonville owner was all about getting him, but the football execs basically blocked him by signing Henne
i can't imagine tebow will be the bigger story, this is a HOF qb changing teams. but it sounds like the niners could use a qb!
i was thinking the same thing...although, colin k may be ready to step up and be a monster, we might as well see what we got there if that happens
(Mediocre Man might be right, I cant tell if the above smiley's are more for Peyton coming to Denver, or if knowing Tebow is leaving)
I know the Jacksonville owner wants him bad, and would be great for marketing and fans in the seats. Tebow to the Raiders would make me happy as a Raider fan. Not that he would help them win, but Tebow wearing silver and black would be hilarious
You sure about that? What if Alex Smith is pissed off about the 9ers licking Manning's nuts and decides to sign with Miami? And what about the signing of Flynn in Seattle? You sure the 9ers are the better team? Seattle ranked in the top 10 defensively last season with an even younger defense than that dominant 9er defense. I wouldn't be so certain about the 9ers being the team to beat in the NFC West next season.
what leaps and bounds did the seahawks make to make up 5 wins on the niners? flynn? alex smith will be back with randy moss to throw to, still have gore, vernon, and crabs, young oline jelling, young defense jelling, niners are a top 5ish favorite to win it all id say
Smith is still terrible. I think the team won in spite of him. Harbaugh is the shit and he could mold another QB into a pro bowler. The Seagulls ain't winnin the NFC West next season. No way.
I can't believe we go from potentially Manning to Tebow in about 2 days, what a deflating experience.
I do love the harmony of all of this: In '83, the Baltimore Colts take Elway with the #1 pick, he rejects them, so they trade him to Denver. In '98, the Colts reject starting-QB Jim Harbaugh, trading him to Baltimore to draft Peyton Manning with the #1 pick. In '12, the Colts again have the #1 pick, and Harbaugh is again rejected, this time by Manning, so he can go play in Denver for Elway. Beautiful.
Hahahaha. Manning is a soft pussy. Love hearing national media question him. I have hated Manning since his college days. As a die-hard Niners fan, the potential of signing Manning was more controversial to me than the Blazers signing any Laker, including Kobe, or hell, even a retired Shaq today. Signing Manning, IMO, with our roster, means cashing in on at least one Super Bowl. But it would have been hard to root for Peyton - really hard. But I love hearing national media question him on choosing Denver. Saying he didn't want to have to face his brother, blah blah blah. The best part is seeing some of the national guys saying that Peyton was afraid of the pressure, because in SF it's Super Bowl or bust now. So that's why he didn't choose SF. Haha!! Awesome. It's like, if many didn't already think Peyton was an underachiever.... can put up superstar numbers, but isn't a real winner, can't handle the big time.... this is the icing on the cake! I love it. Glad he didn't join the Niners, because I was honestly dreading of rooting for him. It was Super Bowl or bust, because like the 1994 team, this season with Peyton on the Niners was over before it started. Niners had it locked. But I'd rather do it without rooting for him, that's how much I've hated him from Day One. So thanks, Peyton, for making us earn it, and making me enjoy watching you getting your head ripped off in a Denver uni. 5 more years, 0 more championships.
