I didn't see this posted anywhere, but I figured this might be worth a read. From the Basketball Jones crew (sorta). http://blogs.thescore.com/tbj/2012/03/16/why-the-trail-blazers-totally-nailed-their-one-day-rebuild/ ...
I feel that any article on a rebuild is not telling the entire story unless the front office instability also is mentioned. Do we even know who is making basketball decisions at this point?
The local media likes to make the GM the focal point of their hick hatred (Whitsitt) or worship (Pritchard). So Paul Allen cleverly knocked the legs out from under Canzano by simply not giving anyone the GM title. This makes Canzano and disciple PapaG hopping mad. The decisions are made by a committee which includes Larry Miller, all the scouts, probably a couple of Vulcan accountants, Chad Buchanan, and are approved by Paul Allen because he signs the checks. Every other team does it the same way, except they give the group's loudest mouth the GM title.
