I have heard rumors that this forward may play for the Raptors as soon as this season!!!I only remember him being drafted last year in the second round with the 58th overall pick. I know pretty much nothing about him only that he is Slovakian (Im not even sure about that) so if anyone has any personal scouting reports/thoughts/comparisons of his game please share.P/S anyone who is interested in a good read visit Raptors.com and have a look at Chuck Swirskies Blog, and nice read for any fan of the NBA and the Raptors franchise.
actually, he is slovenian and here is his profile from www.nbadraft.netHe rebounds well, using his long hands to snatch boards, a good shot blocker, some nice post moves, very agile down there. He sinks 20 ft jumpers, can hit a occasional 3, a little skiny for PF but is as fearless as Gasol so you wont see him being pushed around a lot. Fought through a few injuries that kept him out for 2 years and appears to have fully recovered.
Yes, we have signed Slokar to replace Pape. I've heard some good things about this guy, and I'm excited to see what he can do
He will be playing Center though, not Forward. From that profile he seems to be pretty good. I'm excited to see how he does..
He got signed??The only thing I have heard in Raptorsland is the signing of Jose Garbajosaheres the link:http://www.nba.com/raptors/news/pressrelea...osa_072406.htmlHis accomplishments over in Europe seem impressive but he will start with a clean slate in the NBA, hopefully he can play in the league (Calderon and Garbajosa dynasty!).Anyways back to Uros, I heard we was pretty decent when we drafted him and I can't wait to see him play for the Raptors to see what he has to offer. My only concern is that for all these players we acquired through trade of FA is that whether there will be enough playing time distributed amongest them all. Like I wanted to see Humphries play good after seeing his Summer League performances, then I want to see how Bargnani will fare in the NBA, then theres Uros and Nesterovic and Garbajosa! HOW WILL EVERYONE GET SUFFICIENT MINUTESS???Oh and not to mention that Bosh will play at the PF for the bulk of the game.
Depth problems are good problems to have my friend. Sam will figure it out. He will play his best players. It is always good to have alot of depth at the big man spots.Anyway, I found this on Realgm:<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>A popular Slovenian website is reporting that Uros Slokar will join fellow countryman Rasho Nesterovic to play center for the Toronto Raptors . Slokar had three teams interested in his services, the other two are expected to have been Euroleague teams, but Slokar ultimately decided to play in the NBA. Slokar will join the team after the world championships in Japan.</div>
I was actually watching Slokar play just now on Raptors TV with Beneton Treviso ( Bargnanis team ). Uros Slokar will enjoy his time with the Raptors. Playing with ex-teamate , Bargnani and country man, Nesterovic. He's a great shooter and a big body. He played pretty nice in the inside defense and offense. I'm looking forward to seeing him play as a Raptor.Since He's only signed to 1 year, I'm sure He will play very well to keep on the team and play with Rasho and Andrea for years to come. Make or break season for Uros.
Hopefully he'll get playing time because we have a full roster as it is so players will have to earn their minutes if they want to step onto the court.
Yeah I assume he wont even be dressed for half the season, its just more of a backup plan incase some of our players get injured.
Guys, he is going to play Center, not Power Forward. He is going to fill in for Pape until Pape comes back from his neck injury. And then if he isnt doing well enough he could possibly be cut.
