Jay Spoonhour will be the new men's basketball coach at Eastern Illinois, the school announced Friday. Spoonhour has been Moberly Area Community College's coach for the past three seasons. He previously won the NJCAA national championship at Wabash College. He was also previously an assistant at Missouri, Saint Louis, UNLV, Texas-San Antonio and Valparaiso and an interim head coach at UNLV. He is the son of Charlie Spoonhour, a longtime college coach who passed away in February.
