Looking for a white male driving a pickup truck in Tulsa, Oklahoma? Good luck with that one. It's like a warped 'where's Waldo' only that everyone is Waldo.
You are aware that you're more likely to run into a black person in Tulsa than you are in Portland, right?
Update! For some reason the police begun to round up innocent white people! 2 patriots arrested so far! http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702303772904577331562349890588.html
Tulsa was the scene of one of the worst race riots in US history. It was a terrible tragedy. White people burned down 600 black owned businesses (including churches, schools, hospitals, etc.), killed 3000 black men, women, and children, and left over 10,000 homeless.
Not trying to make light of things but the whole "Update!" thing made me think of Unsolved Mysteries. Does that make you Robert Stack?
300 dead, but whatever. It was 91 years ago, so let's all be outraged about it. If the black guys were shot by another black guy, would julius have started a thread about it?
Sorry. I tired from celebrating the Easter Bunny's birthday with a bunch of out of town guests this weekend.
Where did you have brunch at? My gf and I took my parents to brunch at Kennedy Grade School in NE Portland. Kind of overrated. Not up to the usual good standards of McMenamins. Should have taken them to the Benson's brunch. That's some good eats!
How is that incorrect? The % of Tulsa(ans?) that are "black" is around 15%. The % of Portlanders that are black is around 6%. Now, I know that I'm getting up there in age and have issues with math...but as long as I've been alive 15 is more than 6. So like I said, you are more likely to run into a black person in Tulsa than you are a black person in Portland.
I think you missed that Maris was making a pun based on the fact Fez lives in Oregon, and likely spends no time in Oklahoma (at least that's how I read it). Regardless of demographic statistics, if one never goes to Oklahoma, there is no doubt they're more likely to see a black person in Oregon than in Oklahoma - wouldn't you agree? So, while your math skills are still at the top of their game.... I'd say your ability to read between the lines is lacking (at least based on the way I interpreted Maris' post, but I could be the one with issues).
repped for reading with an open mind. Some posters get so indignant and consumed by their "white guilt" or their "everyone picks on me for my skin color" schtik that they are unable to comprehend basic realities or process simple sentences.
