Well that stuff would be possible, but extremely unlikely. (space travel 3000 light years)

Some alien life forms might live a million years. To them, a 6000 year trip at half light speed wouldn't be a big deal.

If the universe is 17 billion years, their evolution would be warp speed. :D

Well anything is possible. But is it probable? Just like the "God" debates. God is possible, but from our technology, we can't see him. So since we can only go on "what we know"; then the average life is 60 years, and the fastest speed is lightspeed; which still isn't probable with life traveling at that speed. But what the hay, lets say organisms can travel that speed. 3,000 light years ÷ 60 years = 500 lifetimes. And this is the closest probable living planet.

Yeah, that was just my point, it's not probable, but not completely impossible. Although I would go with an 80 year life span or greater considering they do have the technology for interstellar travel. Who knows, what if it is computers or something along those lines?

I suspect that a lot of the UFO sightings in this country are government craft. Consider this, the most advanced planes in our arsenal right now are the F22 and the F117. Both those planes are decades old. I remember playing a game on my Sega that was called F22 back in the early 90s. These planes were top secret for a long time until the Soviet Union fell and we no longer had to hide them from our enemies. If we have made those planes public, I guarantee we have some cool shit that the Air Force hasn't made public. If we ever go to war with the Chinese (god forbid), I suspect we will see some very cool shit come out of the ground where we've hidden them.

to a race that lives a million years, 3000 years is a drop in the bucket, especially when they would likely be stopping at places along the way

That's the thing. I am putting on the "There is no supernatural" hat on. Figured the people interested don't believe in God; so I am using their logic. With that in mind, it's not logical that a race could be immortal; since all carbon will break down.

Now this could be somewhat logical. What if an advanced race built "androids" and programed flight to possible "life giving" planets. Set them up with a bunch of DNA and were ordered to populate planets? And they would be able to communicate with "radio waves"; giving us the impression that they are telepathic. Those androids would have no timeline for termination because they developed a solar charging fuel cell.

what is the longest something could live? there are plants that are 1000's of years old, no? and in a ideal environment, a life form could live much longer

and mormons believe god is an alien, so it kinda ties together?

There'd be nothing supernatural about some alien race that lives a million years. We are close to immortality, maybe in 100 years. There could be an alien race billions of years old by now. Think of what they must already have, technologically compared to our ~5000 years.

This planet would really suck if people lived that long.

Could you imagine being married for a million years? :smiley-new_shocked:

Where did you get that nonsense number of 3000? There are 10,000,000 stars within a radius of 3000 light years. Microscopic life is probably living underground on Mars. Civilized life is probably no farther than 100 light years away, which contains a thousand stars.
