If Marshall shrinks about 4 inches and goes undrafted then we'll have reason to worry. Now, what if Anthony Davis turns out to be like Darius Miles!!??
Give me a point guard that averages 10 and 8, with few turnovers and an adequate defender and I'd be thrilled. It's so hard to put value to a player that is smart and initiates an offense. Marshall can get you 10 and 8, but how many passes before the assist does he make? I know the comparisons have been made numerous times, but every where Andre Miller goes, he makes his team better. Not a superstar, but Marshall would make this head and shoulders better immediately.
In a motion offense, Marshall would be really good. He constantly looks for the players on the court with the best chance to score. Having him in a pick and roll type offense would be brutal though.
Wouldn't you rather have Ed Cota right now than anything we have? But, his big thing was he was short and at the time of not being drafted had no outside shot. Marshall already has a decent outside shot (which is getting better) and is tall for a PG.
Damn..... nice work R. Let's try this...... I wonder if the HCP will get multiple blow jobs from hot swanky 20 year old TV crew groupies on this last road trip?
I'm always wary of assist specialists with no jump shot. I love the idea of adding a pure point guard to the team, but he needs to have a serviceable jumper and the ability to create his own shot when needed. If Marshall can do that, I'd seriously consider taking him at #7 if I was the Blazers.
Portland won less games with Miller than the previous year (54 wins and #3 seed to 50 wins and #6 seed; 48 wins and #6 seed the following year). Denver has won fewer games in terms of % then they did last year (50-32 last year/34-28 this year). So, other than his last two stops, I guess you're right.
